The paper explores the purchase intention for recycles PET products by Brazilian consumers, a topic related to circular economy business model developments.

To improve the quality of the paper I would have the following suggestions for the authors:

  • to integrate the Research Hypotheses with the Literature Review part;  
  • expand the literature related to the recycled products customer purchase intention as well as the factors measured in this study;
  • in the discussion part it will be of importance in case you compare how your study results differ from other studies mentioned in the literature;
  • it could help to include an “implications” chapter to your study. How could your results help to improve the situation, what learning provide help for policy makers and entrepreneurs?

"The results in Spain indicate that the positive image of circular products is the most important factor for consumer acceptance, followed by the perceived safety. The other two hypotheses were not accepted [4]. In Vietnam, the results suggest that consumers have positive perceptions about the quality, sustainability and safety of clothes made with rPET bottles; image concerns may not be relevant to the consumer's purchase intent [6].

In the context of Brazil, all hypotheses have been accepted, and it is possible to see that the greatest relationship is between sustainability and purchase intention. Additionally, the results indicated that the current model was responsible for 75% of the purchase intention in Brazil, while in Vietnam 42% and in Spain 69.3%."

The authors have done an excellent job in writing a timely and well-positioned article. I really enjoyed reading your work and believe it would make a good contribution. There are however some things that need to be improved in a next version.

 

First of all, a lot of the text that you have after the introduction should go into a section on background work. It is important that this is presented as background work that can inform the reader about what has been done and the related literature for the different key concepts you introduce.

 

Second, I believe you are missing an opportunity here to talk about digital circular economy strategies. Over the last year there have been a lot of articles on how big data analytics and other novel technologies can enhance the move towards circular economy strategies. I believe that you can talk about this either in the background section, or in an expanded discussion section. It would be an interesting point for expanding on and looking forward. You might want to look at some of the following articles and integreate them in a discussion on digital circular economy strategies.
