Associations of Fecal Microplastics with Oxidative Damage and Cardiopulmonary Function: Evidence from a Pilot Study
Highlights
- We quantified MPs in human feces, identifying sheets and fragments (100-200μm) of PA, PET, PE, and PP as the most common;
- Individual fecal microplastic levels varied over time, showing poor measurement reproducibility;
- A significant association between fecal microplastics and oxidative damage biomarker was found.
- Fibrous shapes and specific polymers (PE, PA) were the primary drivers of the observed oxidative damage.
