Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Author,

A wide range of information, references to existing literature data in the context of the volumes discussed is presented. This information is in most cases very general and informs that such studies have been carried out. The results of individual researchers are not (or hardly) confronted with each other. It presents, as it were, a list from the library database.

In my opinion, the authors, based on the literature review, should have done more critical analysis and discussion and indicated directions for further research in relation to Discrete Element Method.

Author Response

Based on the comments of the reviewer, the paper was revised in lines 363-364, lines 490-493 and lines 595-599 respectively.

The further research directions of the DEM are also summarized and elaborated in the conclusion part of the article (line628-633).

Reviewer 2 Report

The study is interesting and publishable provided.

1. Minor mistakes in English grammer should be corrected.

2. The references needed to be updated especially some recent studies of year 2021-2022.

3. Quality of images need improvement.

Author Response

1.Revised the grammatical issues based on the reviewer's comments.
2.Added recent references according to the reviewers' comments.(line480-482、483-486 and 589-592)
3.The images in the article were rechecked according to the comments of the reviewer experts.Improved the quality of Fig 2(b), 5 and 7. As the images are from the cited related literature, Some of the original images were not available and were not revised, for which we would like to explain and apologize to you.

Round 2
