Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors are discussing the effect of chopping by modeling the chopping noise, they are considering the chopping effect due to the high PAPR in the OFDM-based communications scheme. I have a good impression of the manuscript. However, I am irritated about the conclusions and the added value of the new model. The literature is offering diverse ways and algorithms to compact high PAPR in the OFDM scheme without the need of modeling the chopping noise. The authors highlighted (at their conclusions), that this new model can be used for the optimization of the bit allocations or the calculations of the channel capacity. I think the manuscript will make a huge leap if the authors who have shown a use case or how this new model can be used.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors consider novel analysis to capture clipping noise that depends on frequency. The study is interesting while the reviewer has some minor suggestions that may improve the readability of the paper.

  1. what kind of DAC, ADC is considered for the considered analysis (what kind of low pass filter is considered.)
  2. In Sec. 3.1.2, 'the weight of delta function a' is not clear. Please define what is the 'weight' of delta function.
  3. In line 123, including some explicit description why modulation order 'M' matters would be informative.
  4. For eq 19), not only defining intensity but also writing explicitly about the process would be informative.
  5. A more detailed definition about 'crossing' and 'duration' of overshooting (also definition about overshooting itself too) would let readers understand the paper more easily.
  6. Fig. 7 has only solid lines. Please check and substitute one with dotted line.
  7. In Fig. 10, it is not clear why the figure has extreme point in the middle of the x-axis.

Thank you.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper contains a mathematical treatment of spectral proprieties of clipping noise. For that, authours reviewed the Bussgang theorem. It is not clear a benefits of this Bussgang theorem review, I suggest to highlight the reduction of error.

The keywords VLC and OWC are not appropriate, because in all paper these keywords are not used.

The manuscript is a solid work with good technical contents, but references are old and few.

Are all the math steps essential to understanding? I suggest to evaluate the essentiality of math step and to add clearer explaination.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

I would like to thank the authors for the appropriate response and the corresponding modifications they have invoked in the manuscript.

Reviewer 3 Report

The revised manuscript is more clear.

Authors followed the reviewers' advice and they correctly justified the observations.
