An Editorial to the Mathematics Special Issue “Numerical Analysis and Matrix Computations: Theory and Applications”

This Special Issue of the journal Mathematics was dedicated to the numerical analysis and matrix computations. The area of numerical matrix computations is a field of intensive research and important applications. Matrix computations are used in almost all sciences and engineering, including disciplines such as quantum information, mathematical biology, seismology, data science, dynamical systems, control theory, signal and image processing, geometrical modeling, network theory, and many others.
The aim of this Special Issue was to assist specialists in the field to share their state-of-the-art research results, present application experience, exchange new ideas, and discuss future developments in the area of numerical matrix computations.
In the Call for Papers, a large number of subjects were mentioned, e.g., perturbation analysis of matrix problems, ill-conditioned matrix problems and their regularization, Matrices depending on parameters, Eigenvalue and Eigenspace sensitivity, Computations related to matrix pencils and matrix polynomials, Eigenvalue computations, Jordan and Schur algorithms in matrix computations, numerical solution of matrix equations and linear matrix inequalities, computing matrix functions, numerical matrix methods for solving difference and differential equations, software for matrix computations, numerical computations in engineering problems, etc.
Six papers were published between 2022 and 2025. Some of them are of significant relevance and practical importance. All submissions were reviewed by at least two experts from the corresponding research field.
It is my pleasure to thank all authors for submitting their recent works, all reviewers for their timely and insightful reports, and the staff of the Editorial Office for their effective support in preparing this Special Issue. I hope that the readers of this Special Issue will find stimulating ideas that initiate new research works in this interesting research field of great practical importance.
