Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

How do you avoid human-induced fires in your model?

The resolution of the satellite images you use is low, so you consequently have a low resolution in fire detection. Explain this better in the text.

We need a map of the ecological units in the study area to be able to understand which species the fires predominate on.

The RCP scenario maps appear to be very homogeneous with little spatial variation. Are you sure that this corresponds to the actual conditions in the area and wouldn't ground weather stations also be needed as verification?

The discussion in which you evaluate your research in relation to the scientific literature on the subject is completely missing.

This article comprehensively utilizes various data sources, including fire points, meteorology, land cover, and socio-economic data, to analyze the trends in wildfire development in the Cartagena del Chairá region and identify key driving factors, as well as propose mitigation strategies. The article integrates both natural and human factors affecting wildfires, demonstrating a high level of innovation.

However, there are some shortcomings in the results and discussion sections of this study that require significant revisions before considering acceptance for publication.

In the results section of the article, the trends in fire points, meteorology, and land cover are separately discussed, but there is no integrated analysis of multiple datasets. However, the methods section of the article emphasizes the integration of multiple data sources, creating the impression that the experimental methodology is comprehensive, yet the obtained results appear to be independent of each other.

The economic indicators used in the study need to be explained in detail regarding their roles and functions.

for example, the author's use of Gini coefficient data. Does its association with wildfires have scientific significance?

The research data includes satellite-derived fire point data, meteorological data, climate model data, and socio-economic data, all of which have different temporal and spatial resolutions. The paper does not provide a detailed description of how to harmonize the spatiotemporal resolutions of multiple data sources

comments on Figures and Tables:

Figure 1 should include a compass rose and clearly indicate the location of the study area within South America or globally. These modifications will help readers better understand the figure.

Figure 3 is not clear enough and is difficult to identify. For example, the labels on the x-axis are hard to recognize

English writing is ok.

Dear Authors,

Thank you for this "detailed" paper. Although the paper explicitly explains you research, I believe there are few points yet to be improved.

First of al, please define all abbreviations for the first usage even if they are well known (m.a.s.l., meter above sea level?).

I believe, the proposed "preliminary measures" were not directly related with the results of the research. They are general strategies suggested by many scientific and/or non scientific studies. Perhaps they can be better supported by the findings of the study.

Although the paper is well designed and well detailed, I believe, the long content of the paper may reduce the interest of the readers. If possible, (this will be decided by the authors) it would be better to shorten the paper.
