Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This work is about the Disturbances in the skin homeostasis, particularly the wound healing. This is an important matter and completely in the scope of the journal.

Overall, it is a significant document on this matter. However, in order to be published, in my opinion, there are some major and minor changes to be addressed:

Major changes:

1)     Page 1: independently of being a review, there should be a small introduction to contextualize and reference what will be discussed.

2)     Page 2, Figure 1: In the Figure there should be some information indicating the localization of epidermis and the dermis.

3)     The authors should divide the headings and subheadings with numbers and according to the journal's format. This comment applies to the entire document. Often, it's not easy to understand the organization of the divisions.

4)     Page 3, Line 73-97: Please include references.

5)     Page 3-10, Line 98-409: References are always 1-12. In my opinion it would be better to be more specific.

6)     Page 8; Line 273-321: The ref is (1-12) in the end. Along the text it would be useful to have specific references.

7)     Page 11, Line 437: Again it would be very useful to have headings and subheadings organized.

8)     Page 16, Line 619: A reference is needed supporting this information.

9)     Pag2 16, Line 622: A reference is needed supporting this information.

10) Pag2 17: The headings must be organized; Gross stages of wound healing, Acute inflammatory reaction and Summary of principal events in wound healing? Please try to reorganize them.

Minor changes:

1)            Page 17, Line 668: Why gross?

2)            Page 22, Table 1: Please format it according to journal guidelines.

3)            Page 23. Table 1: The reference at line 808 is what? Based on? Adapted from?

Overall this is an elegant manuscript summarizing important issues concerning wound healing that after these changes can be considered for publication.
