Therapeutically Induced Modulation of Collagen I-to-III Ratio Three Weeks After Rabbit Achilles Tendon Full Transection
Simple Summary
Abstract
1. Introduction
- Consistency of the two methods: HV and IHC show similar collagen I-to-III ratios for different local zones in the healing tendon tissue.
- PDGF-BB treatment efficacy: PDGF-BB releasing tube-treated tendons exhibit higher collagen I-to-III ratios in all zones compared to tube-only-treated tendons, with the magnitude of this increase varying across different anatomical zones of the healing tendon.
- Spatial heterogeneity: Tendons treated with a PDGF-BB tube show the most pronounced collagen I-to-III increase within the scaffold pores and immediately adjacent to the scaffolds, compared to distal regions like the tendon core.
