The journal retracts the article “Hydrophobic and Superhydrophobic Bio-Based Nano-Magnetic Epoxy Composites as Organic Coating of Steel” [1] cited above.
Following the publication, concerns were brought to the attention of the Editorial Office regarding the potential duplication of images between this article [1] and one other publication [2].
Adhering to our standard procedure, an investigation was conducted by the Editorial Office and the Editorial Board, which confirmed a high level of similarity between the salt spray images in Figure 14a,b in [1] and Figure 16a,c in [2], respectively, presenting different experimental conditions.
While the authors fully cooperated with the Editorial Office during the investigation, they were unable to satisfactorily explain the duplication and overlap of figures, nor provide raw material acceptable to the Editorial Board and as per the journal’s original image policy (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/coatings/instructions#oriimages (accessed on 27 December 2025)). As a result, the Editorial Board has lost confidence in the integrity of the findings and decided to retract this publication [1], as per MDPI’s retraction policy (https://www.mdpi.com/ethics#bookmark30 (accessed on 27 December 2025)).
This retraction was approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Coatings.
The authors did not agree to this retraction.
