Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The research deals with an issue that is scarcely addressed in the literature, such as the effects on cranio-cervico-mandibular system of the application of Milwaukee brace. The most interesting aspect, which is underestimated in the literature, is the evaluation of the relationship between TMD and the use of Milwaukee brace.

The method by which the study is conducted and has been formally reported is systematic and accurate in its various parts.

Despite the limitations of the study related mainly to sample size, it can be considered a valuable matter of reflection for the scientific community, as for the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.

Author Response

Thank You for your valuable comment. Regarding the small sample size, it was very difficult to contact all those patients after more than 20 years.

Reviewer 2 Report

I would like to congratulate the authors on the great work.

This article addresses the question whether Milwaukee brace treatment for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is associated with temporomandibular joint disorders in females at least 23 years after completion of treatment.  The topic is original as it appears that no others studies have attempted to address this question and the conclusions of this study would fill in a gap in the current literature.  The paper is generally well-presented with good organization, and the text and tables are easy to read.  The conclusions are consistent with the study.  It appears that Milwaukee brace treatment is associated with post-treatment TMD.
