Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Current study give a good design and Experiment of a Clamping Manipulator for Removing Abnormal Plants in the breeding process. The design is clearly presented diagrammatically, it gives detailed description of the design and experimental design.

However, all results weren't statistically presented with an appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical test, which would improve the quality of the results.

The manuscript on Design and experiment of clamping manipulator for removing abnormal plants in Rape Breeding. This research work quiet interesting as well as design of clam. On a scientific viewpoint, researchers have put sound effort and justified observations with suitable scientific evidences.

However, there are few queries

1.     Regarding research title the words abnormal plants in Rape Breeding what it means. Clarify it.

2.     Depending on the weed growth and unwanted plants grown in the field. The pulling force and speed may vary. How the study was done?

3.     Table legends should be abbreviated. Explain it properly examples. Table 4,5,6.

4.     Instead of regression analysis perform ANOVA

5.     Discussion should be improved by discussing with previous reports

6.     Conclusion is missing?

7.     Throughout the manuscript spell errors and grammartical errors.

Grammatical and typo error to be rectified

Reviewer 3 Report

In this article, the authors propose to use a clamping structure for culling rapeseed plants. The authors designed a gripping manipulator and built a test facility to determine the design parameters of its components. The prototype was tested and field tests were carried out to test the operability of the gripping manipulator. The currently developed clamping manipulator is only at the testing stage, and it needs to be improved in order to achieve a greater effect. To do this, the authors need to optimize the design, as well as update the control system in order to achieve automated and mechanized operations for pulling out rapeseed plants. These studies are very important in the selection of rapeseed and therefore it is necessary to continue them. I wish the authors of this development success.

Dear Editor

Thank you so much for choosing me to review this manuscript

“Design and Experiment of a Clamping Manipulator for Removing Abnormal Plants in Rape Breeding”

The authors conducted this experiment since there is no research on end-effector for pulling out seed rape stray plants at home and abroad, and the clamping and pulling end-effector is more suitable for removing abnormal plants. In response to this situation, a clamping manipulator was designed and a test bench was built in this paper. Single-factor test was conducted to determine the key parameters of the clamping manipulator. In addition, a Box-Behnken experiment was designed to obtain the optimal operating parameters for the clamping manipulator. Finally, the rationality of the parameter optimization model was verified by field validation tests to ensure that the clamped manipulator could remove the abnormal rape plants with high pulling rate and low energy consumption.

Actually, the study is so interesting the topic is novel, there are no studies in this point before

So, this research can provide a suitable reference for further research and optimization of the removing device for abnormal plants.

The authors did a great work the writing is amazing, all parts are clear to the reader and connected

The reference is not sufficient but that because the lack of studies in that point

section Data is good enough to justify the findings and elaborated accordingly. Proper statistical tools were used for analysis.

Results and discussion explain all data well

Section 5 should be conclusion not results

 Regards
