Circularly Polarized High-Gain Fabry-Perot Cavity Antenna with High Sidelobe Suppression
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
This paper presents a circularly polarization antenna based on Fabry-Perot Cavity structure. Thanks to this design, the proposal provide a high gain with high sidelobe suppression features.
However, there are some points that need to explain more clearly.
1. Figure 4. It's quite hard to see the SMA, could the authors please change the color or the way to present this part?
2. For the MPA geometry, could the authors please give more detail in the term of mx. That is a distance between the outer SMA cable to center of the inner rectangular or whole MPA cell.
3. In the formula (1) and (2), the authors had mentioned the "m" coefficient, However, there are no explanation for it. Moreover, as shown in the Fig. 5 there is "n" coefficient, that could be the same?
4. In the Fig.7b, Fig.8, there are only the simulation for cross-pol, could you please explain the lack of the measurement for this term?
Thank you,

The authors present a promising design for a circularly polarized antenna with very good properties. The design and operating principle of the antenna clearly described in good detail. Simulation as well as experimental results are presented. The experimental results support the simulation results. The properties of the antenna are compared with appropriate literature.
I would like to make the following recommendations to the authors:
General comments:
1. Introduction:
- I would appreciate if the authors could briefly address the possible applications of the proposed circularly polarized antenna.
- At the end of the introduction, the authors should give an overview over the structure of the paper.
3. Simulation and Experiment Results:
- The authors provide no information about the simulation technique, simulation software, or simulation setup. Please provide this information in the paper with sufficient detail.
- The authors only show a photograph of the antenna in the anechoic antenna measurement chamber. Please provide more information about the measurement setup and technique.
Specific comments:
Line 17: The abbreviation "AMC" needs to be introduced.
Lines 53/54: There are commas missing behind "0.413" and "3.33".
Figure 4: It is hard to visually distinguish "Copper" and "Copper SMA". Please use color or more contrasting shades of grey.
Figure 5: In (a), the authors write "GHz" in parentheses, in (b) they write "GHz" in square brackets.
Line 121: The comma behind "total" needs to be removed.
Line 122: "correspondigly" should be replaced with "respectively".
Line 139: There is something grammatically wrong in the second half of the sentence that makes it hard to understand.
Line 170: "correspondigly" should be replaced with "respectively".
Lines 173/174: Please elaborate how these 55% can be understood. Ideally, provide a formula or an explanation of how this number is obtained.
Line 212: The word "etc." can be removed because the sentence already says "including".
The overall quality of English language is very good, clear, and easily understandable. However, there are a few missing articles here and there.

The proposed work is interesting however below mentioned points can be improved in the manuscript
1. What is the application of the proposed design?
2. Show the simulation model of the unit cells.
3. The axial ratio formula is shown in equation (1). Please implement this formula as per the results obtained and plot the graph vs frequency.
4. Please elaborate on how SLS is achieved in the proposed work.
English writing is ok.
