Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This manuscript presented the large-scale laboratory test results of the foundation pit supported by pile anchors. The following comments have required the authors to address in order to improve the merit of the paper:

1. Line 35-38: The sentence is too long and complex to understand. Please revise it.

2. Line 58: what does it mean "automatically take into account the effects of stress path"?

3. Line 66-68: Please consider rewriting or revising it for clarity and better understanding.

4. Line 79: "displacement field of the soil", please reconsider using an appropriate term.

5. Line 95-97: More backup information or previous research is required to support this statement; otherwise, it is an unreliable discussion.

6. Line 124: what is the previous research refer to?

7. Is there any reference for equation (1) for the stress analysis of supporting piles?

8. Please indicate the importance of the discussion between the data in Figure 7 and Figure 8.

9. It is hard to read the data in Figure 9 and reconsider improving the explanation of this result.

10. In the Introduction section, the authors mentioned that most of the studies investigated the foundation pits in soft soil areas, while special loess foundation pits were investigated in this study. Thus, the authors should address the significant findings or the comparative demonstration between the current study with previous studies.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper is well written. But introduction shall be revised to elucidate the novelty of the work. In the current state, it seems like a experimental report.

In abstract section avoid using numbering

Explain in detail which sensors were used (specification of sensors)

More references should be inserted in the discussion section
