Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The review is well-written and deals with a very interesting and innovative topic. I believe the review is acceptable for publication after minor revisions along the text.

1) Figure 1. Remove the name of the software used to create the image and specify it in the caption.

2) The review discusses microalgae as a promising research area for biotechnological and bioeconomic development in Colombia. I think it would be appropriate to give more emphasis in paragraph 7 by describing in more detail the studies conducted in Colombia on microalgae as a food supplements. This could strengthen the goal of the review.

3) Table 1. Correct the typo "aplication", and add reference for the use of Crypthecodinium cohnii in human food.

Dear reviewer
We sincerely appreciate your constructive comments, which have improved the revised manuscript. Below you will find an answer to your questions.

Point 1: Figure 1. Remove the name of the software used to create the image and specify it in the caption.

Response 1: The name of the software was not removed because we do not own the license. Therefore, to publish it we must include the name.

Point 2: The review discusses microalgae as a promising research area for biotechnological and bioeconomic development in Colombia. I think it would be appropriate to give more emphasis in paragraph 7 by describing in more detail the studies conducted in Colombia on microalgae as a food supplements. This could strengthen the goal of the review.

Changes were underlined.

Response 2: The suggestion was considered and is modified in the manuscript. Biotechnological and bioeconomic development in Colombia was emphasized, but it was not possible to reference more works related to this type of studies, since there are few and they are mentioned in the table.

Changes were underlined.

Point 3: Table 1. Correct the typo "aplication", and add reference for the use of Crypthecodinium cohnii in human food.

Response 3: The suggestion was considered and is modified in the manuscript. Changes were underlined.

  1. In the introduction section, authors need to discuss more about microalgae, instead they discussed more about Columbia. Authors need to restructure the Introduction section.
  2. Rewrite sentences in line 73-76.
  3. Line 80 -82 it is repeat of line 73-76. combine both these sentences.
  4. Line 177 C. vulgaris improved milk quality and decreased oxidative stres in what?
  5. Kindly be more specific through the manuscript instead of general statements and comments .
  6. Line 191 and 192, USD 271,610 million should be written as 271,610 million USD through the text.
  7. Kindly include future perspectives and scope section as it helps readers and researchers to carryout their research forward in the field of microlagae.

Reviewer 3 Report

The article is written very legibly. The topic chosen to be described is very important. Microalgs similar to insects may in the future be the basis of the nutrition of a large part of the population. The study collected the most important information on the composition of microalgae and the possibility of their utilization in various fields.
