Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Review report Paper “Receiver Integration with Arrayed Waveguide Gratings toward Multi-wavelength Data-Centric Communications and Computing”, Yoshiyuki Doi et al.

The authors focus on the research and development of receivers integrated with low-loss multimode arrayed waveguide gratings for wavelength division multiplexing applications and the integration techniques with high-speed throughput.

All in all, the paper is written in an understandable way. The text should be, from my point of view, checked by the authors again. Some spelling errors should be corrected, such as page 7, line 271.

In addition, the abbreviation “MZI” is not explained in the whole text.

In this case, I would recommend that the paper could be accepted with minor Revision.

Reviewer 4 Report

The paper presents an overview of different receiver assemblies which have been completed over the past years. As far as I can judge, there are no new results included, and the most recent assembly dates from 2015. Although proper references are included, I do not consider this manuscript as a regular journal paper, and would advise to rework the paper towards a review paper.
