Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I found the article quite interesting. I only have one question for the authors for information.
What amount of biodiesel would be produced per ton of dry T.?
What would be the cost of the installation?
Would it be profitable?

Author Response

Dear reviewer.

Thank you for reviewing my paper.

Your question was

What amount of biodiesel would be produced per ton of dry T.?
What would be the cost of the installation?
Would it be profitable?

As I know, final productivity of bio-diesel in ocean was 20g/m2/day.
Capacity of one mesh pond (36m2) is 9 ton of T. striata culture(not dried weight).
So, one ton of T. striata can produce 0.062g/ton/day.
but I didn't supply about exact information about dried wieght's productivity of T. striata.

Installation coast of Floating culture system was consumed 1.2~2 million dollars.

The oil price is very low these days, so economical value of the bio-diesel also very low. however, bio-diesel production is very eco-friendly technique, and sustainable energy. so I think it has still advance compare with other energy production techniques.

I hope these reply can help you.

Best regards

Kim

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript is well structured. I have a few minor comments and please find it in attached file. The title is relative long and I don't see much discussion about bio-diesel in the main content. I will suggest to either refine the title a little or add more discussion about why T. striata is good candidated for bio-diesel in the main content.
