The Psychological Ownership and Task Performance Relationship: The Mediating Role of Intrapreneurial Behavior

Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe paper presents an important contribution to the literature on psychological ownership (PO), intrapreneurial behavior (IB), and task performance (TP) by demonstrating IB mediates the relationship between PO and TP.
The study addresses an underexplored mediating mechanism between PO and TP, which is a valuable contribution. The paper provides a comprehensive review of existing research, citing key sources. However, it would benefit from a stronger critique of whether PO always leads to positive outcomes. The authors do mention the contradictory findings; my recommendation is to expand on them further in the literature review.
The quantitative approach using SmartPLS is appropriate, and the sample size is robust. My recommendation for the authors in this section: 1) Based on what literature can you evidence that the tenure of one year is enough to express psychological relatedness. I see that your sample only had 12.2% of workers in this category, but I still consider it important to strengthen the methodology. 2) Does PO differ based on work experience, education, age, tenure, company type or sex?
The findings are well presented, statistical rigour is evident, and the mediation effect is appropriately tested. Since, the direct effect of PO on TP is non-significant, I suggest expanding on alternative mediators, other than IB. I know you mentioned this in the section of future studies; my recommendation is to expand on it in the discussion section.
Comments on the Quality of English LanguageThe paper is generally well-written, but there are some mistakes in the article: missing verbs, missing parenthesis, and missing spaces in the in-text references.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThanks for the opportunity to review this article. The topic is interesting, and the article is well written. Still, I would like to report a few points as below:
- Can you develop clear research questions and objectives for the study in the introduction section?
- The article seems to need proofreading. This is evident from the first two lines, “Employees’ behavior and attitudes within an organization are highly instrumental in those organizations’ efficiency and thus their competitiveness,” where the “are” article is missing.
- Please develop a separate section for the theoretical background of the study and the model developed.
- The literature review is well developed and cover the hypotheses developed greatly but a question may arise about this model. In most of the literature you developed, you emphasized that the relationships assumed have already been confirmed, so the question is why I should conduct such a study if it has already been examined.
- Please change Material and Methods to research methodology.
- In the sampling and procedures you have mentioned, “A random sampling technique was adopted, providing equal chances of recruitment for all potential respondents," and in the other part you wrote, “The targeted sample included working employees in companies in the USA.". Was it really a random sampling? I think it was a convenience sampling that is a non-probability sampling unless you are clear with those companies you targeted and you know well the population of your study and you had a list from that population with clear details.
- It is always advised to report testing of hypotheses as p<.0.68 or smaller, so remove the equal sign.
- Please expand the conclusion and incorporate limitations and future studies in it.
- If possible, please provide a correlation matrix in the article.
- Provide figures with good quality.
All the best
