Perceptions of Colombian Teachers about the Didactics of Social Sciences
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
I found this a useful manuscript for publication. You do an excellent job with preparing the reader through the introduction and review of the relevant professional literature. You provided sufficient information about the quality of the survey instrument. As a reader, I appreciated the presentation of the results through tables, bar charts, and word clouds. The discussion was clearly supported by the results and presented in an understandable manner. The choice to examine the perceptions by teacher trainees and practicing teachers was a good choice since many other studies have not examined the teacher's intent, but rather their behaviors. So many studies focus on student outcomes rather than the perceptions of the teacher about the learning process. As you say in the discussion/conclusion, perceptions and practices do not always align. I think this manuscript will be helpful for teacher education departments to consider with their own curricular design as well as helpful for practicing teachers to reflect on their own perceptions and how those impact their choices for activities and approaches to the learning process.

Reviewer 2 Report
The article is interesting. I believe it provides novel aspects on the
perceptions of Colombian teachers. I recommend a minor revision of the
discussion, incorporating some recent references from the English
literature.

Reviewer 3 Report
-It is not specified which part of the sample corresponds to students and which to teachers.
-The stage at which teachers teach is not specified.
-On line 276 the word "pedagogical" appears alone.
-In figure 4, the graph is not understandable, since the numbers appearing on the horizontal axis are not clear what they correspond to (can be interpreted as a Likert scale but should be specified).
-Commas are missing in multiple places, especially in references between the author's last name and the year of publication
-On line 45 the reference (Rudduck and McIntyre 2007, etc) should appear integrated in the text, not in parentheses. The same on line 41, 54, 56, 59, 70, 73, 76... This error is repeated throughout the manuscript.
-Figure 1 and figure 2 may not be relevant, even adequate, in an academic paper, as the results are shown also in tables.
-Conclusions such as "the Colombian teachers consulted show perceptions about the didactics of social sciences in which teaching and learning (Figures 1 and 2) are fundamentally" are extremely obvious and vague.
-The references section contains many and very relevant errors: most of them indicate the full name, and only the initial should appear. The years of publication are not framed in parentheses. Some of the articles have DOI available and are not included in the corresponding reference (e.g., line 559).

-In line 276 the word "pedagogical" appears alone.
A punctuation mark that was left over in the text was removed.
-In Figure 4, the graph is not comprehensible, as the numbers on the horizontal axis are not clear about what they correspond to (it can be interpreted as a Likert scale, but it should be specified).
The meaning of the horizontal axis data is clarified in the label in Figure 2
-Missing commas in several places, especially in references between author’s surname and year of publication Included are missing commas between author’s surname and year of publication
Includes missing commas between author’s last name and year of publication
-In line 45 the reference (Rudduck and McIntyre 2007, etc.) should be included in the text, not in brackets. The same in line 41, 54, 56, 59, 70, 73, 76... This error is repeated throughout the manuscript. Changes are made to the citations integrated in the text by omitting the parentheses in the full content of the article.
Figure 1 and Figure 2 may not be relevant, even adequate, in an academic article, as the results are also shown in tables.
Figures 1 and 2 are omitted from the text and the other figures are renumbered.
-Conclusions such as "the Colombian teachers consulted show perceptions about the didactics of the social sciences in which teaching and learning (Figures 1 and 2) are fundamentally" are extremely obvious and vague.
The conclusion between lines 472 to 476 is specified.
-The reference section contains many very relevant errors: most of them indicate the full name, and only the initial should appear. The years of publication are not bracketed. Some of the items have DOI available and are not included in the corresponding reference (e.g. line 559).
The respective changes are made in the bibliographic references.
