Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors investigate expression patterns of three heat shock proteins under different environmental conditions, in relation to diapause. The results showed significant up or down regulation depending on the conditions.

While the the focus of the paper is very narrow, I do recommend accepting, as the research questions is very relevant in diapause research.

Introduction is well-written and relevant to the experiment, methods are clear and precise. The results are well-presented, and the interpretation fits the results of the paper.

Reviewer 2 Report

With great interest, I have read the above-mentioned manuscript. The paper is original with important to readers. The authors tried to understand the relationship between diapause, acclimation and temperature regimes, and heat shock protein genes (PmHsc70, PmHsp70a, and PmHsp70b) expression in a serious pest, Pieris melete. They found upregulation of two genes. The manuscript is overall well-written, well-structured and clear. The presentation of the methods and characterization of the results achieved indicate that the method is quite suitable. However, I have some more concerns as attached file.
