Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The references should be expanded - only 17 positions. There are other positions available which also cover the scope of the researches.

Comment: the range of temperature in heat capacity and enthalpy change figures should be widened or displayed in the similar range that viscosity.

  1. The main question is about the effect of MgO/Al2O3 proportions on viscosity and properties of slag during smelting (fluidity). In my opinion these questions were answered by the presented results.
  2. I have noticed one lack of dot in line 100 (after no. 1) and a mistake in numbering the figures (editorial).
  3. It is stated withinh the part no. 3. Results. In my opinion the results presented in the article are worth publishing. The only comment is that in my opinion the range of the temperatures in hich the heat capacity and enthalpy change are presented should be the same as in fig. 4 - viscosity.

The paper describes a set of viscosity measurements of a high Ti slag containing chlorine and thermodynamic properties. The result is interesting and can be used by the industry.

General comments:

There are several flaws in the present manuscript version and the recommendation is therefore Reject.

·       The language should be improved.

·       Information regarding experimental set up is missing making it impossible for others to verify the results.

·         There is no analysis of the granulated slag. The slag have been kept at 1500C for 3h in Mo-crucible. What is the dissolution of Mo into the slag and is there any vaporization of Cl from the slag?

·         It is not mentioned in the text what kind of crucible that is used during the viscosity measurement. In fig3, Mo is mentioned.

·         No analysis of the slag after the viscosity measurement. How much Mo have dissolved and has Cl vaporized?

·         How is the viscosity measurement performed? Time for homogenisation at each temperature? Are all temperatures measured on one sample etc?

·         Are the EHRS calculated on expected slag composition or real composition?

·         In figure 9, what does the different line colours mean?

The work is interesting. The authors have done well work. Herewith are some comments that could improve the article's quality.

1-      Explain the procedure and weighting the MgO/Al2O3 ratios then explain the dependent standard utilized.

2-      Explain the standard used for preparing the mix design and testings.

3-      What's the assurance of the chemical composition of slag not changed due to elevated temperature.

4-      Explain the novelty of this manuscript from previous researches.

5-      Explain the pecks on the graph of XRD in Figure 1.

6-      The subsection " 2.2. Effect of MgO/Al2O3 on viscous flow activation energy of chlorinated blast furnace slag" wrote in line 320. It must be written in line 214.

7-      In line 297 wrote "3. Results". It must be corrected to "3. Conclusions".

8-      Check the English language and grammar in the whole of the manuscript.

9-      It must be used the same references written in the introduction section in the discussion sections and the results must be strengthen by previous related studies.

10-  It must be used the references directly related to this manuscript.

11-  The references must write according to the journal style.

Dear Authors,

Thanks for taking the time to improve the manuscript. A minor comment.

It would improve the manuscript if you included the motivation for using Mo-crucible.

The authors corrected some of the mistakes and comments but some comments were not satisfactory therefore they must correct the following comments to improve the article's quality.

1-      Explain the standard used for preparing the mix design and testings.

2-      What's the assurance of the chemical composition of slag not changed due to elevated temperature.

3-      Explain the pecks on the graph of XRD in Figure 1. In this graph must be present the pecks.
