Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The present article is good but can be improved to reproducible quality. I have the following queries:

1.) Please check the title: I have doubt in "Sustainable food provision"......This may be written as supply of food.....Please check with English Editor.

I am also worried about Agri-food region?? Do you have some published papers that claims the study area by ARCC.

2.) In abstract, results and conclusive lines are not attractive. Check the main highlights of your study.

3.) Agri-food Region of Central Córdoba” (ARCC) has been described in many places of text, figure caption, etc. I think you can use abbreviation.

4.) Statistical or data analysis is missing in methodology....??

5.) Species analysis for area....AA_ij.....Why no reference or source is given in methodology?

6.) In conclusion part, lot of references are included...Why?? Moreover, no specific information about species....

I have given some more comments in the PDF attached. Please address them.

Overall I think this is a fine paper and merit's publication. I have two suggested edits - one is a suggestion for clarity, the other is necessary.

The methods are fine - but the authors could consider an edit here for clarity and brevity. I think the explanation is somewhat overlong and complex and I don't think it needs to be. I don't think this is necessary for publication, but would be beneficial.

You often use the word 'interested' such as in the heading for section 2.2.3. "Area interested by each species and type of horticultural crops annually"

'interested' is not the correct word here and in other instances where it is used - do you mean something like 'potential' or 'suitable' or....? I read the paper to take it to mean the areas suitable to produce specific crops.

Minor typos and corrections:

1.) Line No. 58.....11th SDG.....superscript "th"

2.) Line No. 53 in Conclusion section.....superscript.....kg/m2

3.) Conclusion section......Out of 30 vegetable species....15 species identified as most frequent crops......can you name them....or are they root, fruit, stem, inflorescence, etc. type of vegetables?? what is the order of frequency?

Accordingly, highlight it also in the abstract.

4.) Please check the manuscript again for minor typos and grammar.

Minor typos and corrections:

  • Line No. 58.....11th SDG.....superscript "th"

Thank you, we have changed line 58 and we have checked the text in this sense

  • Line No. 53 in Conclusion section.....superscript.....kg/m2

Thank you, we have changed line 53 and we have checked the text in this sense

  • Conclusion section......Out of 30 vegetable species....15 species identified as most frequent crops......can you name them....or are they root, fruit, stem, inflorescence, etc. type of vegetables?? what is the order of frequency? Accordingly, highlight it also in the abstract.

We have modified the conclusion section: we didn’t included the list of the 15 species identified as the most frequent, because this information is already reported in Figure 7, but we have written some considerations. The same we have done in the abstract.

  • Please check the manuscript again for minor typos and grammar.

Thank you very much, we have checked the text and solved the typos and grammar problems.
