Though this manuscript is a common analysis, the authors have done much more work. And the content focused on the impact of historical and present land use on the diversities and conservation status of the vegetation of mountain grasslands, which belongs to the scope of LAND. Before accepted, authors should make a major revision. Following is the detailed revision note, please carefully check it and revise it.
Major comments
Title
In my opinion, land-use changes can reflect the historical and present, so, the title can be revised as “IMPACT OF LAND USE CHANGES ON THE DIVERSITY AND CONSERVATION STATUS OF THE VEGETATION OF MOUNTAIN GRASSLANDS (POLISH CARPATHIANS)”
Abstract
Please clearly state your goal and emphasize the significance of this study at the end of the abstract.
Line 20, please change the item “compared to” into “compared with”.
Introduction
This section is very tedious, and the first paragraph is totally redundant. Maybe, just need one sentence to link the relationship, the other content is useless. Meanwhile, the scope of the exposition in this section is relatively wide, and the defect in the content is how land-use change affects diversity? Where does your research focus on? What do you want to emphasize on and what the significance is? Please concentrate on the key-words: land-use changes and diversity of vegetation.
Line 33, please use “also support”;
Line 37, contain should be changed into contained, line 38, deleted the “to”. Please carefully polish the English grammar, there is so many mistakes.
Line 44, maybe, connected should change into in correlation with, please check it.
Line 45 as a result of → from
Line 59-60, line 80, it is confusing, please check. Use a brief and single sentence to describe what you want to say.
Methods and material
Please divide this section into two parts: study area and methods.
Figure 2 didn’t clearly describe the site information. What does the red box in the lower right corner represent? If it is the study area, please specify its latitude and longitude
The word “relevé” is an English word? Please check it.
Line 159-161, figure 3 is not clear, please optimize the graphics and provide key information to explain it.
Line 170-171, what did you want to say? Maybe there is a lack of a comma.
Results
There's something wrong with paragraph logic. The first subtitle should be the characteristics of land-use changes; and then grassland types and species diversity, please integrate 3.1 and 3.2 as a whole.
Please give us more information about figure 6.
Discussion
Please give us a short title to summary your content in the discussion section. And this section also should include two parts: one is the reason or relationship; the other is how to protect (measure and policy suggestions). Maybe, sections 3.4 and 3.5 can be moved into the discussion.
Conclusion
The Conclusion was a succinct synopsis of the major findings and output of the present study, reviewed their imminent and long-term implications, and complemented the Abstract. In general, however, the Conclusion should also briefly reiterate the main study limitations and their corrective actions as well as the planned next research steps building on the work done in this study.
So, there is no need to simply expound at length on the results. Please revise the contents and improve this section.
In addition, please carefully check the references list in the manuscript, I found some of them are missing, as well as keep the format consistent, please also polish the language shorter and more precise.
