Sulfation of Chondroitin Sulfate Regulates Neuronal Morphology via Src-Family Signaling with Likely Contribution from Fyn
Highlights
- Neuronal morphology resembling early stages of polarization is regulated by highly sulfated chondroitin sulfate (CS) preparations, including CS-D- and CS-E-enriched forms.
- CS-E-enriched substrates more effectively promote a polarization-like neuronal morphology, accompanied by enhanced Src-family kinase signaling, likely involving Fyn.
- Highly sulfated CS subtypes may act as extracellular cues contributing to early neuronal morphogenesis.
- These findings suggest a link between extracellular matrix sulfation and Src-family signaling in neuronal morphogenesis.
