Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper presents an investigation on the growth dynamics of ice dendrites atop a frozen water drop placed on a horizontally, inverted, and vertically orientated supercooled substrate, itself manipulated by means of an original experimental setup which permits to study the effect of atmosphere, tilting of the water droplet and substrate temperature on frosting layers formation by condensation. It is a very significant work with technological implications. The conclusions of the paper are well supported by empirical evidences detailed in it.
