Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1. Please change the "Organic Transformations" in the title to "Sonogashira, Buchwald, aldol and cycloaddition reactions.

2. Please add more beautiful words in the title such as "Cu(II)/Chitosan catalysts as green and reusable catalysts"

3. It is better to use passive sentences in the abstract.

4. The chemical numbers should be bold in the abstract and the whole text.

5. The keywords are not suitable. Please use better keywords!

6. This paragraph should not be the second paragraph in the introduction, please find a better place within the text. "Recently, our scientific group developed a number of chitosan-based catalytic systems [4-9]. However, although the systems are very effective, their sophisticated preparation requires a laborious way. Conveniently prepared catalytic systems are undoubtedly more advantageous and of much greater interest."

7. Why copper is important? There should be a paragraph about copper catalysis in the introduction. There are so many examples in the literature. Please cite more review articles within the text.

8. Why "in water" is bold within the text?

9. Why only one product for each reaction? Please provide more reactions..

- The identification of the generality and specificity of the catalysis of each of the reactions, the influence of substituents, the possibility of involving heteroaromatic compounds in these reactions is now being studied in our scientific group. We will be deeply grateful to Reviewer if he allows us to leave it as it is.

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript describes on the preparation and catalytic application of Cu(II)/chitosan-based catalysts. According to the contents described, this reviewer recommends this article to be published in this journal after some revisions (listed below).

(a)   For comparison, the authors should report the blank entries (without chitosan) for all catalytic studies. Statements should be added in Section 2.2.5.

(b)   Are the elemental analysis data helpful for the characterization of catalysts? If not. Why?

(c)   The authors should report how to calculate the catalysts in 20 mol % based on Cu.

(d)   The spectra of products produced by the catalytic reactions should be reported as supporting materials.

(e) In Table 3, the Base in the first row of column 3 should be removed.

Author Response

- Corrected

(b)   Are the elemental analysis data helpful for the characterization of catalysts? If not. Why?

- The elemental analysis was used to determine degree of succination. We added this to the text

(c)   The authors should report how to calculate the catalysts in 20 mol % based on Cu.

- Corrected (ICP analysis in Experimental)

(d)   The spectra of products produced by the catalytic reactions should be reported as supporting materials.
