The Effects of AlPO-n Additives as Catalytic Support on Pd-Catalytic Hydrogenation of 2-Amylanthraquinone Process
Round 1

1. Many references are not quoted in the text, eg No. 2 and 10. Please correct.
2. Line 127 „Third bullet” what the autors have in mind.
3. Figure 1 the XRD reflexes are not properly describe ( lack of any crystal data).
4. Lines 208-216 autors dont expain why simulated XRD spectra is shifted in relations to experimental one
5. „The average Pd particle size of Pd-AlPO-11/SiO2 and Pd-AlPO-31/SiO2 are 1.3 nm and 1.4 nm, which is so small that the HRTEM method is merely able to locate Pd particles positions.” The authors should consider using a STEM with a HAADF detector to visualize particles on the carrier surface.
6. Figure 5 on D and E, contrast is too low.
7. figure 6 on the basis of which method it was determined. what was the measurement group (how many particles were analyzed)

The current manuscript reports about "The effects of AlPO-n additives as catalytic support on Pd-catalytic hydrogenation of 2-amylanthraquinone process". In overall, the manuscript is good and worth publication in "Catalysts". The characterization of the different supports and catalysts is deep and broad, and the catalytic measurements are limited but sufficient to complete the overall picture.
Several small comments:
Line 212: The sentence "However, during the preparation 212 of AlPO-n zeolites." Is detached from the text.
Table 2: The characteristics of AIPO-5 is unusual, and it should be discussed in the text.
Line 282- H2 instead of H2.
Line 353: "channels. The dissociated"-delete the extra space.
Line 369: H2 instead of H2.

In the manuscript entitled "The effects of AlPO-n additives as catalytic support on Pd-cata-2 lytic hydrogenation of 2-amylanthraquinone process", authors have prepared Pd nanoparticles supported on the different hybrid supports. The catalytic activity of these samples has shown in the hydrogenation of 2-amylanthraquinone.
In my opinion, a study that shows the change in catalytic activity depending on particle size and support characteristics is quite interesting. This manuscript may be published after some additions and revisions.
Please find below my comments and questions.
1) L.85. The authors should fully specify the conditions of synthesis of the samples, such as the heating rate during calcination.
2) L.127. “Third bullet”.
3) L.129. The type of radiation for XRD method should be specified (Cu?).
4) L.204 and below. All abbreviations must be explained.
5) L.207. The authors should briefly explain why the simulated and experimental diffractograms for the AIPO-11 sample are slightly different (peaks at different angles and displacement of other peaks).
6) L.212. “However, during …” Looks like an incomplete sentence.
7) L.215. As far as I understand, the value of 0.2 wt% is the calculated palladium loading. The authors should give the results of the analysis of the actual metal content of the samples.
8) L.221. Here (“are show”) and hereafter the authors should check the English.
9) The authors should discuss the reason for the difference in palladium particle size on different support. The option that the particle size is determined only by the pore size seems insufficient. It is difficult to imagine that all of the palladium gets inside the pores, considering that mesopores are present in all samples.
10) The authors should specify in the experimental part what type of background they used when fitting the peaks for the analysis of XPS spectra.
11) L.313. How can the authors explain the noisy XPS spectrum of the Pd-AlPO-11/SiO2 sample? It looks as if there is less palladium in this sample compared to the other samples.
12) L.321. Please, check the grammar.
13) L.326. The authors should discuss why the Pd-ALPO-11/SiO2 sample with smaller particle size has lower catalytic activity. What other parameter besides palladium particle size determines catalyst efficiency? The authors further write that the selectivity was less, but why? H2 desorbed ability?

The authors have answered my questions and comments very well and corrected some shortcomings. However, I would advise the authors once again to pay attention to the correctness of English, especially in the newly introduced text when discussing XRD.
