Vitamin D Supplementation in Children with Asthma: An Umbrella Review
Highlights
- This umbrella review synthesizes evidence from systematic reviews and meta-analyses of vitamin D supplementation in children with asthma.
- No convincing evidence supports its therapeutic use for improving asthma outcomes.
- Preliminary evidence indicates a possible preventive effect on asthma recurrence.
- The evidence base is constrained by methodological limitations and substantial overlap across reviews.
- Future high-quality studies are needed to identify subgroups most likely to benefit from supplementation.
