The authors conducted an interesting elegant study that reveals phenotypic reductions in anxiety-like behavior across the lifetime trajectory of rats and unravels the transcriptomic signature of both coding and non-coding RNAs in the key regulatory tissues of anxiety in response to long-term CR.

This was an interesting study on CR and its impact on anxiety like behavior. a few comments below:

1. Please clarify the dietary treatment under the methods section.  Although controls were allowed adlib intake, it appears their intake matched CR at 18 months?

Thank you for your time and effort in reviewing our manuscript. Thank you for identifying that error in reporting the body weights for our CR group. We have changed this in the text, but below is the changed text in bold.

“Mean daily control food intake at 6 and 12 months of age was stable at 24.7 to 23.4 g/day/rat, while intake decreased at 18 months to 19.9 g/rat/day. Consequently, mean CR intake ranged from 18.5 to 15.3 g/rat/day throughout the experimental period. “
