The journal retracts the article “Smart Growth or Footprint Trap? A Quantile Approach to FinTech, Natural Resources, and Governance in Emerging Markets” [1] cited above.
Following publication, concerns were brought to the attention of the Editorial Office regarding the relevance of the references presented in this article and the accuracy of the authorship list.
In accordance with the journal’s standard procedures, the Editorial Office and Editorial Board conducted an investigation. The investigation confirmed that a significant number of references lacked sufficient relevance to the context in which they were cited. Additional concerns relating to the authorship, provenance of the study, and the accuracy of the reported affiliations could not be satisfactorily resolved through communication with the authors and their institutions.
As a result, the Editorial Board has lost confidence in the reliability of the findings and decided to retract this publication [1], as per MDPI’s retraction policy.
This retraction was approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sustainability.
The authors have been informed of this retraction and have indicated their disagreement with this decision.
