Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper titled "Conditions on the sustainable housing of foreign workers: A case study of Gyeonggi province, South Korea" mainly examines the laws and policies on the provision of housing for foreign workers, and the status and problems of foreign workers' accommodation in Gyeonggi to identify the fundamental reasons behind the recurring risks related to workers' housing sustainability. The topic and case study are relevant to the journal; however, it still needs to be modified and improved in the following aspects:

 1. The abstract is not well structured. Your major findings can't be distinguished from the background information. The methods or approach used to conduct the research or analysis are not introduced. What are the results of the housing vulnerability classification for foreign workers' residential facilities?

2. The resolution of Fig. 2 should be improved. The numbers are small and unclear.

 3. The academic value of this study should be more clearly presented in both abstract and introduction.

4. There is a lack of literature review on previous studies relevant to this study. The references are far from adequate.

Author Response

Thanks for your time and detailed comments. It helped me a lot to upgrade this journal.

1. As you mentioned, we improved the contents of the analysis method and results of the study in abstracts so that the results of the vulnerability classification were supplemented and reflected.
2. Improved the clear font of the Fig2 image to show better.
3. The value of research was added in the introduction.
4. We supplemented this journal by referring to the relevant research literature as much as possible. However, since this study is a field and regulation-oriented analysis study, please understand that there are many reports more than journals in the existing literature.

Reviewer 2 Report

Interesting manuscript on the conditions for sustainable housing of foreign workers using the example of Gyeonggi Province in South Korea. It is an interesting topic presented in a clearly structured written format. The research presented is scientifically sound and the course of the research and the sequence of writing are clear.

The abstract is very well written and includes all the important information about the research and the main conclusions. The introduction chapter is solidly written and contains enough information about the research itself and about existing research on a same topic. A well-presented methodology (research design and data analysis) is followed by laws and regulation review and the presentation of the research results (case study), which are presented through appropriate figures, tables, and diagrams that are easy to interpret and understand. Data are interpreted appropriately and consistently throughout the manuscript. The discussion of the research findings is clear, as are the concluding remarks.

There are only a few comments that require minor changes in the text:

·        in line 59, the author is given as Muhammad, 2022, but the references list Mohammad. Please cite the reference correctly.

·        in section 4.1.2. Building structure and facilities, there is no mention of building structure. The subsection refers only to the spatial organization of buildings. Please indicate how and from what materials the buildings were constructed.

·        Figure 2 is blurry (line 283). Please insert the figure with the higher resolution.

·        in the Discussion and conclusions chapter, it is mentioned that the 80% of the foreign workers' accommodations provided by employers are houses made with shipping containers or prefabricated panels (lines 332-333), which was not previously mentioned in the text. This comment is directly related to the second comment. Please indicate how and from what materials the buildings were constructed.

·        Please check the references, if I am not mistaken, the reference listed in #2 is not mentioned in the text.
