Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Generally speaking, the topic of this study is very interesting and worth carefully examining. The article is well written, the logic is clear and straightforward, and the conclusions are meaningful and convincing. As a result, I would like to recommend the article to be accepted for publication. Before formal acceptance, some minor revisions are needed to further improve the quality of the paper.

1. In the section of Introduction, authors stated the motives and contribution about this manuscript. However, how did the carbon emission transferring via the GVCs should be analyzed more specifically.

2. The relationship and renewable energy consumption on carbon emission balance, carbon transferring, and GVCs need more discussion in section of Literature review.

3. Why did some variables take the log, while others did not take the log in Eq.(1)? Please explain why the logarithm is taken.

4. In page 5 Line 207, displaying Error! Reference source not found.

5. In page 8 Line 322, authors mentioned the GVCP is negatively significant related to carbon emission balance index. Because the CO2B is a proportional value, how to interpreted the influence of the explanatory variable on CO2B?

6. In addition, how can this research affect the economic development and GVCs? It is suggested that the authors can add the economic implications in section of conclusion and future work.

The article entitled "The Influence of Renewable Energy Consumption on Carbon Emission Balance: From the Perspective of Carbon Transfer under Global Value Chains" is a work on the current social topic of reducing emissions through the use of renewable energy sources. The research is from the Environmental Protection Policy category.

Here, the authors examine the effect of the consumption of renewable energy sources on the production of greenhouse gases, using statistical methods and case modeling.

The analysis carried out is well done and is suitable for research of this type.

In terms of presentation and organization, the article shows some shortcomings, which are, however, correctable.

Unfortunately, I have to state that I have major reservations about the out-of-date data! The authors use time series data from 2000 - 2014!! for the models and regression analysis. It should be noted that these are outdated and old data. However, this is correlated with emissions that are progressively developing out of date research. I believe that the results of such research do not have adequate informative value today.

In addition, it should be noted that the years 2004 - 2009 were affected by the global economic crisis, which in the time series 2000 - 2014 specifically affected the results of the analysis, and if the series is not longer - in 2020, it can be assumed that the obtained results are not appropriate for today .

For an illustrative example, the current data would be, for example, 2005 - 2020, which can already be obtained in the indicated variables.

Despite the interesting analysis,   due to outdated data, as research with zero relevance.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

1. The manuscript in its revised form looks sound but still some errors are noticed at few points need to be taken care, accordingly.

2. The authors still feel to retain the original title they can go for it. As a reviewer I want clarity and the authors tried well.

3. Conclusion part still not taken care. Since, I had advised the authors to reduce it to not more than half a page rather 3-4 crispy points viz., what was derived, why the study holds relevance in current time as well as future, policy implication in short. Conclusion is still laden with discussion part i.e., most of the portion represents discussion.

Authors need to take care of the above observations.

Reviewer 3 Report

In the previous revision of the work, the authors managed to some extent to resolve the out-of-dateness of the research.

However, I must state that the presented article still has a number of shortcomings, especially in the area of research presentation and text editing.

- I appreciate the brief presentation of the achieved research results in the Abstract of the article, however, the article lacks a clear determination of the research objective in the Introduction section and within the research objective, determination of numbered research questions.

- Similarly, in the Conclusion section, a clear evaluation of the achievement of the research goal and the research questions posed in the Introduction should be presented.

- The authors present in the text of the work an adopted graph and table (f 1, t 1). This is for information only and is not even very appropriate in an article of a high-impact periodical.

- Figures 2 and 3 are too small and unreadable, their graphics need to be modified.

- All custom tables and images are missing source, which is a must! Even if it is your own work, you must mention the source (e.g. own creation). Especially when the author also presents borrowed images and tables!

- Tables 3 and 4 merge with the text, without a gap

- Table 5 is inappropriately and unnecessarily divided into 2 pages, so unfortunately that only the name and the first row of the table are on one side. Of course, the source is not mentioned here either!

I must note that I am surprised at the poor research presentation and text editing that the authors submit for publication in a prestigious journal!
