Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript under review is very well prepared. The introduction justifies taking up the topic. the methodology is well described. The analysis of the results and the discussion are exhaustive. Despite the fact that the research was conducted in specific geographic conditions (desert areas), it should be emphasized that the results are of general importance. The periods of drought observed in recent years also in other regions of the world may cause similar problems also there.
