Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This study explores the construct of an ethical pro-environmental self-identity in a context of selling or buying second hand products in Bangladesh and Sweden. Although the subject of this study is interesting, the process of conducting the study and reaching a conclusion does not seem appropriate. I think this study didn't use the appropriate approach and methodology which could led a scientific study results. It cannot be concluded that 16 people in each country who buy and sell secondhand products on Facebook were doing environmental consumption behaviors. Moreover, the 16 second-hand sellers and buyers from each country traded different products in six categories. Second-hand trading has green consequences, but not all second-hand buyer and sellers have an ethical pro-environmental self-identity. This study arbitrarily interpret and reorganize the interview content by using the Social Practice Theory (SPT) framework, and it seems non-scientific ways. There are lots of qualitative data analysis soft-wares can be used to analysis and organized interviewees contents.

  1. In the abstract, an explanation of the research method and analysis is required.
  2. It is necessary to explain whether the SPT theory is necessary for this study.
  3. The validity of this research method needs an explanation.
  4. It is necessary to explain the selection criteria and characteristics of the respondents who participated in this study.
  5. It is necessary to explain whether there is a reason for analyzing participants in Bangladesh and Sweden in this study.
  6. The number of references in this study is large and needs to be reduced somewhat.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper is good to go. One thing is important to address is to look for alternative work to "Second-hand product" as it may not be understandable.

Secondly, the implications should revise appropriately.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The comments made by the author did not convince me in any way about the relevance and scientific quality of the research. I maintain the initial point of view by which I do not discover the usefulness of the study. I do not realize how this empirical research can be considered credible by the (minor) changes made in this second version. Also, I did not discover reasonable and even convinced explanation, especially since authors are talking about relationship between second-hand buy and sell behavior and ethical pro-environmental self identity practice. The methodology used is already a classic one and is based on the processing of some interviews that I consider small in relation to the stated purpose of the research.

In summary, I don’t think the paper has been improved well in accordance with the reviewer’s comments. In addition, the editorial format doesn't seem like match with the journal.

Reviewer 2 Report

  1. It will be a more meaningful study if the perspectives of the two countries are compared and explained in the analysis results of this study.
  2.  It is necessary to present the contents of the conclusion in the order of theoretical implications, practical implications, limitations, and future research directions.
