Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper analyzes the changes in work-related mobility that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey case study allows to examine changes in connection with individual attitudes and perspectives of employees, as well as the perspective and reactions of the company. Then, the quantitatively recorded the mobility behavior of the employees of a company situated in semi-rural Germany, followed by an expert interview to ascertain the company's perspective. Reduction of the frequency were found both in commuting and business trips made by employees. However, the changes are believed not based on individual motivation to act in a climate-aware manner, but are subject to the framework conditions created by employers for the adoption of climate-friendly behavior. The entire paper was organized in a rather good logic, which is much appreciated. The reviewer has some minor comments and recommendations as follows.

1. The current abstract is a little bit long, which may be modified, and should include background, objective, method, results, conclusion and possible applications.

2. The outline of the entire paper should be decribed by the end of the section 1.

3. In Section 2.1, when describing the survey, the six parts should be briefly illustrated or provided as a diagram in the appendix.

4. In figure1, what does the "currently" represent for? Please provide the exact period.

5. Some additional statistical results may be provided in Section 3, in additional to the quantitative results provided in section 3.1.

6. Addtional references related to the urban and transportation big data may be explained and compared in additional to the survey data used in the study. Moreover, some COVID-19 related papers previously published by the journal of Sustainability may be referred. For example,

  a. Impact of COVID-19 on Urban Mobility during Post-Epidemic Period in Megacities: From the Perspectives of Taxi Travel and Social Vitality, Sustainability, 2020.

 b. Energy consumption simulation and economic benefit analysis for urban electric commercial-vehicles, Transportation Research Part D, 2021.

The article concerns an interesting topic which is "Case study: Assessing the COVID-19 pandemic’s potential for a more climate-friendly work-related mobility". The article is interesting for the reader and it refers to up-to date topic of mobility. In my opinion the language of the is correct.

In terms of editing, the article is also properly prepared. The references were correctly referenced and the literature was properly prepared in accordance with the MDPI requirements.

From the substantive point of view:

1. Please refer to the introduction in part to the issue of mobility more broadly, including transport mobility in the COVID-19 period. It is very important to present the background of mobility - practices that have been used in relation to urban and collective transport as well as new mobility and shared mobility services. These are very important issues because they strongly influenced the work culture during COVID-19. Check: Electric shared mobility services during the pandemic: modeling aspects of transportation, Business innovations in the new mobility market during the covid ‐ 19 with the possibility of open business model innovation.

2. In summary, please present the methodological limitations of the article and further research plans of the authors.
