Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper is quite interesting and advanced but the authors are suggested to incorporate the following recommendations:

Abstract:

The methodology is not included in the abstract. Some information about the method should be captured in the abstract such as the research method adopted, population, and location where the study was carried out.

Keywords:

Increase the number of keywords to at least five.

 Introduction

The first sentence (Line 23-24) requires citation if it is not part of the reference for the second sentence (Lines 24-25).

Lines 27-32 require citation.

Materials and Methods

Line 69 – No need to include the study years here since it is mentioned in detail in line 74.

The location of the study area is also required in the areas between lines 69-71.

Result

The information about the study location should be stated in the Materials and Methods section. Malopolska is not a popular global city (region), thus, it would be appropriate to include other qualifying information that helps international readers identify the location. You can add the name of the country, eg. Malopolska, Poland.

Make a reference to Table 1 in the manuscript, inserting it in the bracket in line 97 is not enough.

Discussion

There should be an effort to find out why women tend to take more interest in dietary quality compared to men either from the literature to support this finding. Please also consider citing the following research studies.

The article does not have any implications of findings for society and research.

There is also no contribution to knowledge

Were there any limitations of the study? Kindly elaborate.

·     A short conclusion that entails the closing arguments of the manuscript will improve the quality of the paper.

Reviewer 2 Report

I begin by congratulating you for the excellent work presented!

The subject is current and very relevant.

I can only point out the following errors: figure 2 seems to me to contribute nothing to the article, and figure 3 has no designation. In Figure 3, you could format it so that the reasons appear in full and not with an ellipsis.

Best wishes for success in continuing your research.

Reviewer 3 Report

The main research is about dietary catering which and the aim of this study was to determine the factors related to the choice of dietary catering as a form of everyday nutrition. The results and discussion part of this article are about dietary catering and not about the reduction of food waste and rationalization of losses.

It is necessary to prepare a separate part - Conclusions.

The authors mentioned in line 222 that they did not, especially research food waste and they have only assumptions about how food waste correlates with dietary catering.

It is necessary to strengthen the linking between two topics in this article - dietary catering and food waste. I can suggest changing the title and, in part, the content of this topic to exclude reductions and food waste from the title and content, as well as in-depth research into dietary nutrition and its impact on sustainability.
