The reader could get an extensive description of the irrigation history in Ethiopia. Well-structured manuscript highlighting the challenges in the field of irrigation. I recommend further expansion of the text in two areas:

  • effect of the environmental factors such as climate change and land degradation shall be more detailed on the irrigation management
  • what suggests the author to overcome the issues mentioned in the text? What would be a feasible and optimal action plan towards a sustainable irrigation?

Minor changes suggestion:

Is there a possibility to improve the quality of Figure 1?

Space needed between the numbers and unit (p1. 3.07 million, p2. 3,000 ha, p3. 5000 ha)

  • They are out of order.
  • It does not use the journal template.
  • The sources of the figures, tables ... do not appear.
  • In the abstract, separate "3.07" from "million".
  • Include a period of time in the title.
  • Section 3 needs to be strengthened in every way.
  • "Summary"?? and Conclusions.

Dear author/s,

the topic of the paper is interesting and the results could be useful for future development plans in the field.

First of all the manuscript should respect the format of the journal.

Secondly is not presented the methodology. How the articles were selected? why are these ones the most representative? 

At the same time, the abstract should be more concise and clear.

Also please pay attention to the citation of the references in the text, the sources for all tables and figures should be indicated. Please present the limitations of the study.
