Thalassemia Reports (ISSN: 2039-4365) was launched in 2011 and has become the premier peer-reviewed international medical journal devoted entirely to the study, diagnosis, and treatment of thalassemia [1]. Thalassemias are genetic blood disorders characterized by decreased hemoglobin production, which occurs in about 280 million people worldwide, with about 439,000 having a severe form of the disease as of 2015 [2]. The primary role of this journal is to publish clinically relevant information that will directly improve the care of patients affected by this disorder. Thalassemia Reports was published by PAGEPress and will be published by MDPI as of 8 November 2021 [3].
Prof. Dr. Aurelio Maggio from the Villa Sofia-Cervello Hospital (Palermo, Italy), the current Editor-in-Chief of Thalassemia Reports, has kindly agreed to continue to serve in this role.
We are delighted to take over the publication of Thalassemia Reports, and ensure that we serve the scientific and medical community devoted to the study of thalassemia.
Thalassemia Reports complements the MDPI portfolio of medical sciences journals, especially the Journal of Clinical Medicine [4].
As of 2022, MDPI will publish four quarterly issues each year for Thalassemia Reports.
We look forward to publishing your work in Thalassemia Reports!
