Response: Thank you very much for your helpful suggestions. We’ve corrected the grammar mistakes and reworded unacceptable and judgmental words. In addition, we also polished some of the sentences to avoid possible ambiguity. All modifications have been noted in the manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors studied the intestinal fungal microbiome and characterized the mycobiome correlation between HIV/HCV and healthy controls. This work is well-designed and deserves the attention of the scientific community. There are a few factors that would improve the clarity of the paper, listed below.

  • Line #100-103: add citations of all of the packages and software you used, like fastp, FLASH, UPARSE, RDP, etc

  • Line #169: add the citation of LEfSe

  • Fig 2B showed the proportion and difference between HC and HIV at the class level. Did you observe similar changes at the class level between CD4<=500 and CD4>500? Add more details to describe the results shown in Figure 3B

  • Fig 4A: did you observe differences in the Genus level between HCV and HCs?

  • Fig 6A: why did you use NMDS rather than PCoA for this part?
