Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper provides a revision of the genus Aemene in Korea. A new species, demonstrating considerable differences from all other known representatives,  is described. The paper is based on well-prepared material, incl. good microscope slides, and is illustrated with good photographs.

I have some suggestions that may improve the quality of the work, and all of them are related to technical changes but not to conceptual ones (in this sense not all of them are mandatory). The description may be re-structured in some parts to follow anatomical order. The "telegraph style" (widely accepted as a standard in taxonomic descriptions) should be polished in some parts. I noticed some minor grammatical mistakes, which can be easily fixed by a native speaker or a person fluent in English. All my suggestions are detalised and incorporated in the attached file.

I find this paper an important scientific contribution and recommend to be published in the journal after minor changes.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

We are glad to get suggest and comments.

After reading your instructions, we have changed/added something, which pointed by red color.

---------

There are some technical changes in MS.

  • We followed your all comments in MS.

I recommend full presentation of the authorship of the taxa, i.e. Lederer, ...[year]. I noticed some years are given, others are not.

  • We provide the authorship of the taxa by your recommend

The description should follow the anatomical order of the animal, and usually is structured in antero-posterior direction. It should start with head (and its parts and appendages:frons, vertex, antennae, proboscis, palps), thorax (patagia, tegulae if necessary; colour of mesonotum, ventral part; wings), abdomen (if some sclerites are modified; genitalia). It should be noted that the descriptions of new lepidopterous species are quite chaotic in most of the available literature, in spite of other groups (e.g. beetles).

  • We followed and changed description by the follow the anatomical order.

Thank you very much for your comments and corrections. All corrections are followed the suggestions of Reviewer 1 and pointed by RED in MS.

We appreciate your help and kindness.

With my best wishes,

YS Bae

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear editor,

The manuscript deals with revising the genus Aemene, including describing a new species for Korea. I recommend that authors review species names and include the author and year of publication when cited for the first time, as per the zoological nomenclature rule (ICZN). In addition, all citations used in the synonym list must be presented in full only in the references. Some suggestions are indicated in the attached manuscript.
