Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript ‘Potential Application of Invasive Plant Species Datura innoxia (Romania) for the Scopolamine Extracts of the Plant Organs and Analysis using UV-VIS Spectrophotometry by Mardare et al. describes the potential extraction of Scopolamine from the Datura plant parts using various methods and solvents. The manuscript is well-planned and well-written. I have a few observations on the manuscript which may be useful for further improvement;

Ø Line1: delete Type of paper….Mention Article only

Ø Please mention the right nomenclature Datura innoxia (Romania) or Datura innoxia Mill. ?? Datura innoxia Mill. Is the right nomenclature? The country name is not required. Please delete.

Ø Abstract: Line 16: please avoid writing the statements ‘Taking into account the fact that’. Please write directly ‘Occurrence of……’.

Ø Line 27: µg/g may be revised as µg g – 1. Please revise the units throughout the text.

Ø All ‘-hyphen’ may be revised as ‘–‘

Ø The MS is nicely introduced. I have a different opinion regarding the claim of the first report. There are plenty of reports available until 2022 on the extraction of scopolamine from datura. Please avoid the contradictory statement.

Ø Methods are adequate but could be a little elaborate. Please mention the geographical location (latitude, longitude, and altitude) of the study area/centre of the collection.

Ø Line 170: Please elaborate on the drying conditions as it affects scopolamine content.

Ø Line 201: Please mention the wavelength here instead of in line 201.

Ø The absorbance is plotted in the standard curve to obtain the scopolamine. Please mention.

Ø Please mention the sample size, replication, and statistical analysis, if any.

Ø Line 202: solvent extraction, observation, and statistical analysis

Ø The result and discussion are adequate. I appreciate.

Ø Table 1: Please denote λ as wavelength in the footnote.

Ø Figure 6-10: please mention (a) and (b) besides the figures. No need to make an additional row…

Ø Figure 11: Whether the figure contain SD bars? Please cross-check.

Ø Line 343-344: Please cross-check before claiming it as a first report.

Ø Please cross-check check referencing pattern as per the journal standard.

Overall, the manuscript is well-written and may be considered for publication with minor revision.

Good luck with the revision.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript "Potential Application of Invasive Plant Species Datura innoxia (Romania) for the Scopolamine Extracts of the Plant Organs and Analysis using UV-VIS Spectrophotometry" presents very interesting results on scopolamine extraction from Datura innoxia leafs, seeds, stem and roots. The scopolamine content was therefafter quantified by UV-Vis. The research work is very well conceptualized, the experimental work of very good quality together with all results evaluation and interpretation. By this high quality work I recommend the draft publication in its form.
