Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I have reviewed the manuscript (Stable carbon isotopic composition of selected alkylnaphthalenes and alkylphenanthrenes from the Tarim Oil-fields, NW China), in its present form, it need major modification to be in accaeptable form.

the abstract should be rewritten.

the novelty and research problem are not clear

the manuscript should have a geological setting

the structure organization is missed, the results section and discussion section should be re-structured.

the main importnant that the authors did not compare their results with the previous research in this area.

what are the benefits or advantages of this work, and how can this help in exploration or development in this basin?

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear authors this paper is written well. However, I have a few comments:

1. fig 1 is of poor quality and should be broken into two parts. Among other things, it lacks a definition of the study area in relation to all of China. A reader from outside China may have trouble with this.

2. I think the discussion should be separated.
