As we present this issue of Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction (CMTR), we are filled with a sense of profound gratitude and anticipation. This issue signifies a significant milestone—it is the last under our traditional subscription model. We are excited to announce that starting in January 2025, CMTR will transition to an innovative open-access platform.
This shift represents our commitment to broader ac- cessibility, inclusivity, and the rapid exchange of scientific knowledge. We believe that research, particularly in the critical and dynamic field of craniomaxillofacial surgery, should be universally accessible. By transitioning to open access, we not only ensure that our ground-breaking research is available to researchers, surgeons, health care providers, and the general public worldwide, but also open up new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and advancement in the field.
In addition to the manuscripts published in this issue, we are pleased to announce that all accepted manuscripts will be made available online concurrently. This move underpins our commitment to timely dissemination of research and represents an important step in our evolution towards a more accessible model.
We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our publisher, Sage, for their unwavering support, expertise, and dedication over the years. The success and growth of the CMTR under the subscription model would not have been possible without their in- valuable contributions. Their commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and a shared vision for global knowledge dissemination have been instrumental in our journey. However, transitioning to an open-access model, we find ourselves at a crossroads. We are exploring new paths to serve our readership and scientific community better. While we are grateful for the past, we also look forward to embracing the challenges and opportunities of the future. We thank Sage Publications for their past col- laboration and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
As we embark on this new journey, we remain ever grateful to our researchers, authors, reviewers, and editorial board members. Their dedication and contributions have been instrumental in making CMTR a reliable source of information in our field. We deeply appreciate your con- tinuous support and encourage the submission of quality research from dedicated researchers and surgeons in cra- niomaxillofacial surgery. We are confident that the move to open access will foster greater collaboration, innovation, and advancement in the field, and we look forward to your continued contributions.
We recognize that change often opens up a world of possibilities, and this transition is no different. We expect the change to open access will significantly increase the visibility and impact of the work published in CMTR, thus influencing the craniomaxillofacial surgery community in a more direct and profound manner. This transition to open access represents a significant milestone in the history of CMTR. We eagerly anticipate the opportunities that this new era will bring and look forward to your continuous support as we navigate this exciting new chapter.
