Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors have described in exquisite detail their approach to 5 complex patients who appear to have had high function.  The mortality of 40% could be considered high, but as the authors note this is a small series and it seems that the patients had no other options.

I am curious about some minor details.

1.  Do the authors think the prior therapy (chemo/rt) helped or hindered their procedures?

2.  Could the authors list contraindications to the procedure?

3.  Could the authors comment on post-operative anticoagulation?

4. Would the authors consider homograft in certain settings as a method perhaps of reducing infection risks?

Reviewer 2 Report

This study reported the results of aorta or the branches of aorta reconstruction during curative oncological surgery in retroperitoneal and spinal tumours. The success reached by the authors will give the spnal tumour patients more opportunities to be cured. so ,I think this is very good surgery study. some minor suggestions:

1.All patients experienced surgical revision. the experience is valuable to other surgeons to use this technique. so, we recommond to descripe more detailed .

2.ECMO was used instead of Cardiopulmonay bypass. please make deeper explaination in  the disscussion.
