It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we announce the relaunch of Cardiovascular Medicine, a journal with a longstanding tradition in the Swiss and international cardiology community.
Cardiovascular Medicine was founded in 1998 by Professor Thomas F. Lüscher, one of the most distinguished cardiologists. From its inception, the journal served as a valuable platform for disseminating high-quality articles on cardiovascular care and up-to-date subjects related to cardiovascular medicine in Switzerland. With the support of Professor Thomas F. Lüscher and the Swiss Society of Cardiology, it offered a dedicated space for Swiss cardiovascular specialists to publish clinical and scientific advances, reviews, diagnostic challenges, brief communications, and case reports relevant to both national and international audiences.
Today, we are excited to breathe new life into this important journal. This revival has been made possible by the generous support of Dr. Shu-Kun Lin, founder and owner of MDPI, who shares our vision for making cutting-edge cardiovascular research widely accessible to the global scientific community.
Thanks to this collaboration, Cardiovascular Medicine is now available again—as a fully open access journal, providing free and unrestricted access to all readers worldwide on its new website, to which the former journal website is redirected (https://cardiovascular-medicine.ch/, accessed on 4 September 2025) [1]. We are pleased to launch this new phase with Volume 28, Issue 1 [2].
The journal remains dedicated to advancing knowledge in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, covering the full spectrum of cardiovascular medicine, including cardiology, cardiac and aortic surgery, angiology, hypertension, and related disciplines.
Our goal is to position Cardiovascular Medicine as a trusted and important Swiss and international journal for the entire “Heart Team”. By offering open access and high editorial standards, we aim to foster scientific exchange, strengthen clinical practice, and promote innovation in the field.
Moving forward, the journal will be published in English only, ensuring its accessibility to the international research community. We warmly invite researchers and clinicians to submit their manuscripts via the MDPI submission system (https://susy.mdpi.com/user/manuscripts/upload?form[journal_id]=679, accessed on 8 September 2025), and become part of this exciting new chapter.
Together, we can continue and develop the legacy of excellence established by our founding editor and help shape the future of cardiovascular medicine.
We look forward to your contributions and to building a new chapter together.
