An Environment-Adaptive Multi-Channel Ranging Optimization Algorithm Based on a Multi-Objective Evolutionary Model for Multipath Wireless Sensor Networks
Round 1

Comments and Suggestions for Authors1.The title is too long and does not highlight the core of the algorithm.
2. The abstract's description of the problem is not direct enough, and the first three sentences are redundant.
3. The paper contains numerous nonstandard abbreviations, often in lowercase, such as dfs, toa, tdoa, and aoa.
4. The summary of related work is very one-sided. It doesn't even mention fingerprint positioning, which is the most widely used technology, let alone the current research hotspot of intelligent algorithms for indoor positioning.
5. "Presently, there are ready-made products that support this feature." What are these products? Please clarify.
6. How were the parameters in Table 1 obtained? How can the impact of their changes on ranging accuracy be demonstrated?
7. What is the experimental scenario? Please provide a detailed layout diagram to demonstrate the complexity of the indoor environment and the impact of multipath on positioning, thereby demonstrating the effectiveness of this algorithm.
8. How was the range accuracy calculated in the experiment? Where did the benchmark come from?
9. What is the final positioning accuracy? This paper does not provide location results. Range accuracy alone is not enough, as the ultimate goal of ranging is positioning.
10. The research funds for the project were all from 6 years ago, namely 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2012?

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe manuscript proposes a novel ranging optimization algorithm for WSNs. While the manuscript presents a coherent solution, I have a comment about the usage of KF. Depending on the technology, sampling RSSI measurements may vary. What is the sampling frequency of RSSI?
In the experiments, where is "960 experiments" and "1920 experiments" coming? Sometimes it is mentioned "experiments" and in others "simulations", please clarify.
The way of writing is not enough, there are vague and informal expressions in the manuscript, some acronyms not defined (e.g. dfs),
Minor:
- Acronyms are not coherent. RSSI in uppercase but toa, tdoa, aoa in lower case.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe paper proposes MCRO, a multi channel ranging optimization method for WSN that filters RSSI with AEKF following by fitting a multipath signal propagation model via multi objective evolutionary algorithm.
The framework is to constrain evolution using a weighted multi channel RSSI relation so that the solution avoids local optima and improves distance estimation.
The paper is interesting and can be improved. Please see comments below:
- The introduction is missing works on joint ToA and AoA estimation such as the NLMS filter proposed in [REF01] in addition to newton-type forward backward compressed sensing for AoA estimation and compressed sensing techniques. Please include more related works.
- Equation (11) may require a derivation. Please include along with the followed assumptions.
- If AEKF filtering is effective, why not apply the same filtering to the inputs of MUDR ?
- The amnestic factor set to 0.96 should be justified through simulations. Please run a simulation to show the best choice of the amnestic factor.
- Please add more details regarding the computational complexity of $O\left(M N^2\right)$.
- Define how you generate regular multi channel RSSI.
- What was the central carrier frequency used in simulation ? Please indicate all important missing simulations parameters.
- The simulation in 5.2.1 seems to use matched path numbers to the ground truth. Please explain the goal of this.
- In addition to my previous comment, please compare the scenario where the algorithm runs with a different assumed path number than the simulated one.
- There are some typing issues like missing whitespace in the parameters of Table 1. Please revise. There are also font problems with equations, for instance equation at bottom of page 5 seems to differ in font than other equations. Please unify and enhance the fonts and typesetting used. Acronyms should be defined (e.g. dfs, toa, tdoa, aoa) - also you should uppercased DFS. Pleae revise the entire manuscript for such typing errors. Also,
