This monograph contains 18 lectures given by the experts in their field at the Symposium Advances in the Chemistry of Insect Control", held at Queens, College Cambridge, on 18-21 July 1993. These lectures are organised on three main themes: New approaches, New leads and structure optimisation and Natural product synthesis. There is emphasis towards synthesis of insecticidal and acaricidal agents and some discussion on structure-activity relationship. Other topics which are related to insect control, for example pheromones, antifeedants and proteinase inhibitors and kairomones produced by plants, are also covered. This volume, like the previous two volumes, shows diversity of style and obvious differences in approach between synthetic teams of academics and industrial chemist. A wide range of material is covered and it provides a wealth of up-to-date knowledge in the chemistry of insect control. This monograph would be useful for synthetic organic, agricultural and industrial chemists.
