Outcomes of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Patients with Leukemia
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
Leukemia remains a significant threat to global health, and its treatment has long served as a pioneer in oncology research. Despite recent breakthroughs in immunotherapy and targeted therapy, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) remains the most potent curative option for high-risk or refractory leukemia, serving as a cornerstone of hematological care. However, current HSCT protocols are often associated with significant toxicity and adverse effects, which limit the broader application of this technology. Consequently, optimizing transplantation systems, refining patient selection, reducing transplant-related mortality (TRM), and mitigating relapse rates have become critical priorities for improving outcomes.
For this Topic, we invite original articles and comprehensive reviews that showcase the latest advances in HSCT, specifically focusing on reduced toxicity and improved efficacy. We specifically encourage submissions focused on the following:
- Optimizing conditioning regimens.
- Reducing viral and fungal infection rates.
- Lowering transplant-related mortality.
- Managing the intensity of GVHD.
- Strategies for preventing recurrence and improving overall survival.
Overall, this Topic aims to highlight recent advances in anti-leukemic strategies and their potential impact on clinical practice and patient outcomes. We eagerly anticipate your valuable contributions to this vital field of study.
