This study examines whether Drawmetrics (DM), an expressive–semantic personality system, can be linked with the Five-Factor Model (Big Five) through an embedding-based mapping approach and network psychometric methods. A total of 185 participants completed both the DM assessment and the IPIP-NEO 120 Big Five inventory. DM term outputs were embedded using a miniLM sentence-transformer and aggregated into 30 facet composites, with six composites per domain. Big Five facet composites were extracted from standardized reports and harmonized to canonical facet names. Analyses focused on the overlap sample (N = 148) with valid scores on both instruments. DM composites demonstrated strong internal structure and high stability indices. Substantial semantic-space alignment was observed between DM term language and Big Five facet language, supporting interpretable linking. However, person-level correlations between DM and Big Five domains were modest (mean |r| ≈ 0.07; Spearman similar), with the largest facet-level association at |r| ≈ 0.26. DM appears to represent a coherent expressive–semantic trait space that is related to, but not isomorphic with, Big Five traits. These findings support a linking rather than equivalence interpretation and highlight the need for future research on scaling, reliability, range restriction, and criterion validation. Full article

In this study, a nonlinear dynamic model is developed to examine the stability and vibration behavior of a self-balancing electric Segway operating over irregular stochastic terrains. The Segway is treated as a three-degrees-of-freedom cart–inverted pendulum system, incorporating elastic and damping effects at the wheel–ground interface. Road irregularities are generated in accordance with international standard using high-order filtered noise, allowing for representation of surface classes from smooth to highly degraded. The governing equations, formulated via Lagrange’s method, are transformed into a Lorenz-like state-space form for nonlinear analysis. Numerical simulations employ the fourth-order Runge–Kutta scheme to compute translational and angular responses under varying speeds and terrain conditions. Frequency-domain analysis using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) identifies resonant excitation bands linked to road spectral content, while Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) maps the probability distribution of displacement states to distinguish stable from variable regimes. The Lyapunov stability assessment and bifurcation analysis reveal critical velocity thresholds and parameter regions marking transitions from stable operation to chaotic motion. The study quantifies the influence of the gravity–damping ratio, mass–damping coupling, control torque ratio, and vertical excitation on dynamic stability. The results provide a methodology for designing stability control systems that ensure safe and comfortable Segway operation across diverse terrains. Full article

In the contemporary international context, the preventive conservation of cultural relics has become a widespread consensus. “Risk management” has emerged as a pivotal research focus at the present stage. However, the preventive protection of cultural relics is confronted with deficiencies in risk assessment and prediction. There is an urgent requirement for research to present a comprehensive and in-depth overview of the frontier technologies applicable to the preventive protection of cultural relics, with a particular emphasis on risk prevention and control. Additionally, it is essential to delineate the prospects for future investigations and developments in this domain. Consequently, this study employs bibliometric methods, applying CiteSpace (6.3.R1) and Biblioshiny (4.3.0) to perform comprehensive visual and analytical examinations of 392 publications sourced from the Web of Science (WoS) database covering the period 2010 to 2024. The results obtained from the research are summarized as follows: First, it is evident that scholars originating from China, Italy, and Spain have exhibited preponderant publication frequencies, contributing the largest quantity of articles. Second, augmented reality, digital technology, and risk-based analysis have been identified as the cardinal research frontiers. These areas have attracted significant scholarly attention and are at the forefront of innovation and exploration within the discipline. Third, the “Journal of Culture Heritage” and “Heritage Science” have been empirically determined to be the most frequently cited periodical within this particular field of study. Moreover, over the past decade, under the impetus and influence of the concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage, virtual reality, digital protection, and 3D models have progressively evolved into the central and crucial topics that have pervaded and shaped the research agenda. Finally, with respect to future research trajectories, there will be a pronounced focus on interdisciplinary design. This will be accompanied by an escalation in the requisites and standards for preventive conservation. Specifically, the spotlight will be cast upon aspects such as the air quality within the preservation environment of cultural relics held in collections, the implementation and efficacy of environmental real-time monitoring systems, the utilization and interpretation of big data analysis and early warning mechanisms, as well as the comprehensive and in-depth risk analysis of cultural relics. These multifaceted investigations will be essential for advancing understanding and safeguarding of cultural heritage. These findings deepen our grasp of how risk management in cultural heritage conservation has progressed and transformed between 2010 and 2024. Furthermore, the study provides novel insights and directions for subsequent investigations into risk assessment methodologies for heritage collections. Full article

Monocular depth estimation is a central problem in computer vision and robot vision, aiming at obtaining the depth information of a scene from a single image. In some extreme environments such as dynamics or drastic lighting changes, monocular depth estimation methods based on conventional cameras often perform poorly. Event cameras are able to capture brightness changes asynchronously but are not able to acquire color and absolute brightness information. Thus, it is an ideal choice to make full use of the complementary advantages of event cameras and conventional cameras. However, how to effectively fuse event data and frames to improve the accuracy and robustness of monocular depth estimation remains an urgent problem. To overcome these challenges, a novel Coordinate Attention Gated Recurrent Unit (CAGRU) is proposed in this paper. Unlike the conventional ConvGRUs, our CAGRU abandons the conventional practice of using convolutional layers for all the gates and innovatively designs the coordinate attention as an attention gate and combines it with the convolutional gate. Coordinate attention explicitly models inter-channel dependencies and coordinate information in space. The coordinate attention gate in conjunction with the convolutional gate enable the network to model feature information spatially, temporally, and internally across channels. Based on this, the CAGRU can enhance the information density of the sparse events in the spatial domain in the recursive process of temporal information, thereby achieving more effective feature screening and fusion. It can effectively integrate feature information from event cameras and standard cameras, further improving the accuracy and robustness of monocular depth estimation. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper achieves significant performance improvements on different public datasets. Full article

The recent tendency towards overpopulated cities has created an increased demand for the expansion of borders towards rural areas. This has modified the city–countryside relationship, giving rise to the concept of peri-urbanity. Based on these assumptions, this research paper aims to highlight the role and importance of sustainable development for the sustained progress of peri-urban regions, particularly by looking at international standards proposed by the United Nations. In other words, by encompassing the topics of sustainable and inclusive economic growth, decent work for all, and sustainable tourism, Goal 8 of the 17 Sustainable Goals proposed by United Nations represents a framework for the analysis of a peri-urban region located in Romania which is subject to massive development changes. This is realized by conducting extended qualitative research via the triangulation method, intended to compare and contrast three relevant perspectives: those of locals, those of professionals directly involved in the development of the area, and those presented in publicly available reports and statistics. The obtained results indicate factors such as air quality, water quality, space efficiency, and waste collection as being topics directly related to sustainability, while job availability and touristic development perspectives received lower interest. We stress that, despite the growth of urban areas and the migration of people from urban to peri-urban areas, more attention needs to be directed towards the protection of the environment. This is aimed at maintaining the authenticity of the region, specifically in terms of agricultural lands that can support the surrounding major cities. Our study will be relevant both to scholars and to actors in the domains of sustainability, sustainable economic growth, and tourism. Full article

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is one of the most common pathogens for nosocomial and community infections, which is closely related to the occurrence of pyogenic and toxic diseases in human beings. In the current study, a lab-built microchip capillary electrophoresis (microchip CE) system was employed for the rapid determination of S. aureus, while a simple-to-use space domain internal standard (SDIS) method was carried out for the reliable quantitative analysis. The precision, accuracy, and reliability of SDIS were investigated in detail. Noted that these properties could be elevated in SDIS compared with traditional IS method. Remarkably, the PCR products of S. aureusnuc gene could be identified and quantitated within 80 s. The theoretical detection limit could achieve a value of 0.066 ng/μL, determined by the using SDIS method. The current work may provide a promising detection strategy for the high-speed and highly efficient analysis of pathogens in the fields of food safety and clinical diagnosis. Full article

“Public legal information from all countries and international institutions is part of the common heritage of humanity. Maximizing access to this information promotes justice and the rule of law”. In accordance with the aforementioned declaration on free access to law by legal information institutes of the world, a plethora of legal information is available through the Internet, while the provision of legal information has never before been easier. Given that law is accessed by a much wider group of people, the majority of whom are not legally trained or qualified, diversification techniques should be employed in the context of legal information retrieval, as to increase user satisfaction. We address the diversification of results in legal search by adopting several state of the art methods from the web search, network analysis and text summarization domains. We provide an exhaustive evaluation of the methods, using a standard dataset from the common law domain that we objectively annotated with relevance judgments for this purpose. Our results: (i) reveal that users receive broader insights across the results they get from a legal information retrieval system; (ii) demonstrate that web search diversification techniques outperform other approaches (e.g., summarization-based, graph-based methods) in the context of legal diversification; and (iii) offer balance boundaries between reinforcing relevant documents or sampling the information space around the legal query.
