The rapid expansion of the digital currency market and the growing role of stablecoins as potential intermediaries have brought its interconnectedness with traditional financial markets to the forefront of global financial research. Using daily data from 4 January 2021 to 30 September 2025, this study constructs a variable system with the price indices of USDT and USDC as core digital currency proxies, alongside traditional financial asset indices for stocks, bonds, and gold derived via the entropy weight method. We employ a comprehensive set of econometric techniques, including static correlation analysis, vector autoregression (VAR), impulse response functions, and extreme-event shock tests, to systematically investigate the interdependence structure, risk spillover dynamics, time-varying co-movements, and structural changes between the two markets during extreme risk episodes. The findings reveal an overall weak and asymmetric bidirectional spillover relationship between the cryptocurrency and traditional financial markets. Volatility in the digital currency market is found to be largely endogenous, with a limited capacity to transmit shocks externally. Conversely, traditional financial markets—particularly the equity market—exert a more pronounced influence on the digital currency market. Critically, under the impact of extreme risk events, the cross-market linkages exhibit structural breaks; the direction and intensity of correlation can strengthen significantly or even reverse, demonstrating a clear state-dependency. This research provides empirical evidence for understanding the functional role of digital assets within the macro-financial system, their risk transmission pathways, and their implications for systemic financial stability. The findings offer valuable theoretical and practical insights for financial regulators in designing robust cross-market risk prevention frameworks and for investors seeking to optimize asset allocation strategies. In the context of the global green development wave and the rapid iteration of digital technology, digital empowerment has become the core driving force for high-end manufacturing enterprises to achieve green transformation. At present, China’s manufacturing industry is facing the dual pressures of tightening resource and environmental constraints and industrial upgrading. How to break the bottleneck of green development through digital technology innovation has become a key issue to be solved urgently. Based on the techno-economic paradigm, green development theory and value creation theory, this study constructs a theoretical analysis framework for the green development of a digital-enabling manufacturing industry and deeply analyzes the mechanisms of digital technology (such as big data, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, etc.) in optimizing energy allocation, improving production efficiency and reducing environmental emissions. By selecting 303 manufacturing enterprises of different scales in China as samples, the structural equation model is used for empirical tests. The results show that (1) digital empowerment has a significant positive impact on the green value performance of manufacturing enterprises, and (2) green development plays an intermediary role between digital empowerment and the green value performance of enterprises; that is, digital technology indirectly promotes green development by improving energy conservation and emission reduction, green innovation and green upgrading of enterprises. The research reveals the internal logic of digitally enabling the green development of Chinese manufacturing enterprises and provides a theoretical basis and implementation path for enterprises to formulate the innovation mechanism of digital–green development. To address the coordination between social and spatial relationships within villages in the loess gully region, this study developed a joint Geospatial–Social Network analytical approach. Taking Caojian Village in Zizhou County, Shaanxi Province as the study case, geospatial and social network models were constructed, respectively, with time cost and social interaction frequency as measurement indicators. The two network models were analyzed using cohesive subgroups and node centrality, respectively. Correlation analysis revealed the dominant role of spatial relationships in shaping social relationships, as well as the reinforcing effect of kinship on cross-geographical connections. Furthermore, the joint analysis of the two networks was used to identify village spatial hierarchies and core areas. On this basis, targeted strategies were proposed for public space allocation, public service facility layout, and site selection for relocated dwellings. Ultimately, this research aims to provide quantitative analysis tools and decision-making support for optimizing the spatial structure of villages in the loess gully region. Full article

SWEET (Sugars Will Eventually be Exported Transporter) proteins constitute a conserved family of sugar transporters that play pivotal roles in carbohydrate allocation and stress responses. In this study, we systematically identified 14 SWEET homologs in the genome of sacred lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) and validated their transport activity for both hexoses and sucrose. Subsequent analysis revealed that stress-responsive elements are the most enriched promoter sequences of NnSWEET genes. Quantitative expression profiling of the members found that NnSWEET4a was strongly upregulated under salt stress. NnSWEET4a was localized at the plasma membrane; its expression conferred salt sensitivity in both yeast and Arabidopsis thaliana. Transgenic Arabidopsis lines overexpressing NnSWEET4a exhibited substantial downregulation of the SOS3SOS2SOS1 signaling module and concomitant alterations in cellular sugar homeostasis. Further analysis revealed that exogenous sugar application aggravated salt sensitivity and SOS pathway inhibition in NnSWEET4a transgenic plants, and NnSWEET15-overexpressing Arabidopsis recapitulated identical phenotypic and molecular responses, including salt sensitivity and repression of SOS genes. These findings indicate that NnSWEET4a impairs salt tolerance through disruption of sugar homeostasis. The results establish a mechanistic framework for future investigations into SWEET-dependent regulation of sugar homeostasis and salt stress adaptation. Full article

Variation in gaze behavior due to age is currently a considerable challenge in building reliable eye-tracking systems for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis. However, existing strategies often focus on static gaze representation or dataset-based information, which can lead to limited generalization of findings depending on developmental groups and heterogeneous recording conditions. In this paper, we present a temporal transformer-based system for ASD classification using eye-tracking sequences. This allows you to model gaze behavior as a structured temporal process in the context of contextual attention, as well as employing entropy-based modeling for various distributions of variability over time and temporal consistency constraints to capture sequential gaze dynamics related to ASD behavioral patterns. The framework was evaluated using public eye-tracking corpus containing temporally ordered gaze recordings from ASD and TD participants across age groups. Five sequential experiments on baseline classification, class-balancing analysis, cross-age evaluation, ablation analysis, and cross-dataset transfer learning were performed to conduct experiment-based evaluations. Model performed 0.91 in in-domain Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (AUC) and 0.81 in F1-score on the primary eye-tracking dataset. In the cross-dataset assessment stage, the framework presented a relatively stable performance, with an AUC of 0.85 and an average F1-score of 0.74, irrespective of differences in participant distributions and recording conditions. Ablation analysis also revealed that entropy regularization and temporal consistency mechanisms played a significant role in model stability and classification performance. The ablation analysis provides additional insight into the contribution of the proposed framework components beyond the overall classification performance. Removing the entropy-based regularization reduced the model’s ability to represent variability in gaze allocation, whereas removing the temporal-consistency regularization resulted in less stable sequence representations during learning. These observations indicate that the proposed components complement the transformer-based sequence encoder by improving representation stability and preserving diagnostically relevant temporal information. Rather than acting as independent classifiers, the regularization mechanisms serve as supporting constraints that enhance the quality and robustness of the learned temporal representations. The results indicate that temporally structured gaze modeling is more robust, interpretable, and general in comparison to static gaze representations. In summary, the presented framework can represent a scalable and developmentally appropriate approach to gaze-based ASD classification and support the implementation of trusted neurodevelopmental screening systems. This study evaluated clinical characteristics, treatment outcomes, and CNS relapse patterns in patients with breast-involved diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a rare extranodal presentation with limited real-world data. We conducted a retrospective study on 33 consecutive patients with newly diagnosed breast-involved DLBCL treated from 2019 to 2024. All patients received R-CHOP. Baseline CNS screening—including neurological examination, fundoscopy, brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis—was routinely performed. High-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) was offered as CNS prophylaxis after completion of systemic therapy based on multidisciplinary team evaluation and clinician–patient shared decision-making according to institutional treatment protocols. Median age was 52.6 years; 84.8% had ECOG 0. Non-GCB subtype predominated (84.8%), and Ki-67 >70% was present in 69.7%. The overall response rate was 90.9%, with 84.8% complete responses. At a median follow-up of 44 months, 5-year Overall Survival (OS) and Progression-Free Survival (PFS) were 84.8% and 66.7%. CNS relapse occurred in 4 of 6 patients (66.7%) without prophylaxis, all within 5–11 months after R-CHOP, whereas no CNS relapses were observed among prophylaxis recipients (p < 0.001), although this observation should be interpreted with extreme caution given the very small non-prophylaxis subgroup (n = 6), limited statistical power, and non-randomized treatment allocation. Exploratory analyses suggested that bulky disease was associated with inferior OS. R-CHOP achieved high response rates and favorable long-term outcomes in breast-involved DLBCL. The absence of CNS relapse among HD-MTX prophylaxis recipients, contrasted with a high relapse rate in those without prophylaxis, provides only a hypothesis-generating observation that requires confirmation in larger prospective studies; this warrants further investigation of the role of systemic CNS prophylaxis. Post-fire plantations play a crucial role in recovering carbon stocks, yet how carbon is partitioned among vegetation, litter, and soil pools during stand growth dynamics remains insufficiently resolved for Quercus acutissima plantations. Forest ecosystems play a crucial role in the global carbon cycle. This study quantified carbon-storage allocation and identified stand characteristics and soil factors associated with carbon recovery in fire-affected Q. acutissima plantations. Using a chronosequence design, we compared five stand-age classes (4, 10, 25, 45, and 50 years) on Huangfu Mountain, China, and measured carbon stocks in tree organs, understory vegetation, litter, and the 0–30 cm soil layer. Ecosystem carbon stock increased from 31.64 t ha−1 in 4-year-old stands to 230.66 t ha−1 in 50-year-old stands, representing a 629% increase. Soil was the dominant carbon pool, with 0–30 cm soil carbon rising from 25.32 to 126.56 t ha−1 (a 400% increase). The contribution of soil carbon to total ecosystem storage declined from approximately 80% in 4-year-old stands to 55% in 50-year-old stands, indicating a shift in allocation toward vegetation biomass over time. Carbon accumulation was primarily concentrated in the 0–10 cm layer. Tree basal area was significantly associated with ecosystem carbon stocks, identified as a key structural factor linked to carbon accumulation through potential direct and indirect pathways involving light availability and soil carbon. Soil organic matter and nitrogen were also positively correlated with carbon accumulation. These findings suggest that stand development and topsoil carbon formation are closely linked to post-fire carbon recovery processes. Future management measures should optimize stand density, maintain soil fertility, and protect surface carbon to enhance long-term carbon sequestration. Full article

Extreme drought events have become increasingly frequent under ongoing climatic change, thereby constraining vegetation growth and altering ecosystem processes. Vegetation recovery time following drought plays a crucial role in ecosystem stability, and extensive studies have been conducted to quantify vegetation recovery. However, most studies estimate vegetation recovery time using a single vegetation index, which does not adequately reflect how vegetation responds to drought conditions, since different vegetation indicators reflect different facets of vegetation dynamics. In this study, multiple vegetation indicators, including Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), Leaf Area Index (LAI), Gross Primary Productivity (GPP), and Solar-Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence (SIF), were applied to investigate post-drought vegetation recovery in the Yangtze River Basin (YRB). The findings reveal that: (1) most vegetation recovered within four months after drought, with one-month recovery being the most prevalent, followed by four-month recovery; (2) the average recovery times derived from EVI, LAI, NDVI, GPP, and SIF were 2.23, 1.62, 2.45, 2.79, and 2.00 months respectively; (3) forests exhibited the fastest recovery rates, whereas shrublands recovered the slowest. This study assesses post-drought vegetation status via the recovery duration, offers theoretical basis for water resource allocation optimization, and provides important reference for coping with future ecological risks. Background: Physical exercise induces coordinated endocrine and metabolic adaptations that contribute to the regulation of glucose homeostasis, lipid metabolism, stress responses, and anabolic processes. However, the integrated effects of combined aerobic and resistance exercise on multiple endocrine and metabolic outcomes require further investigation. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a 12-week combined aerobic and resistance exercise program on endocrine and metabolic parameters in normal-weight and mildly overweight adults. Methods: A total of 60 adults were randomly allocated to an exercise group (EX, n = 30) or a control group (CON, n = 30). The EX-group completed a supervised 12-week combined exercise program consisting of three 60 min sessions per week, including aerobic exercise and multi-joint resistance training, whereas the CON-group maintained their habitual physical activity levels. Endocrine parameters, including insulin, glucagon, cortisol, growth hormone (GH), thyroid hormones, and sex-specific hormones, as well as fasting glucose, lipid profile, and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), were assessed at baseline and after 12 weeks. Results: Compared with the control condition, the exercise program was associated with favorable changes in endocrine and metabolic profiles. The EX-group showed reductions in fasting insulin, cortisol, fasting glucose, and HOMA-IR, together with increased GH levels. Favorable changes were also observed in the lipid profile, including reductions in total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), and triglycerides and an increase in high-density lipoproteins cholesterol (HDL). In the male subgroup, total testosterone increased following the intervention, whereas estradiol changes in the female subgroup were more limited. Changes in insulin were associated with changes in glucose regulation and lipid parameters, while GH and cortisol changes showed additional associations with metabolic outcomes. Conclusions: These findings support the role of structured combined exercise as a non-pharmacological strategy for promoting endocrine and metabolic health and preventing metabolic dysfunction. Against the background of global production-network restructuring, low-carbon transition, and rising external uncertainty, this study examines the effect of green infrastructure investment on urban industrial chain resilience. Using panel data for 285 Chinese prefecture-level cities from 2012 to 2024, industrial chain resilience is measured from the dimensions of industrial diversification and urban innovation capacity. Double machine learning is employed for baseline estimation, supplemented by mediation analysis, threshold regression, spatial econometric analysis, and a series of robustness tests. The results show that green infrastructure investment significantly enhances industrial chain resilience, and the finding remains robust to alternative model specifications, cross-fitting settings, generalized propensity score weighting, continuous-treatment entropy balancing, winsorization, and the exclusion of pandemic-period observations. Resource allocation efficiency plays a partial mediating role in this relationship. The threshold analysis identifies a significant nonlinear effect associated with energy consumption intensity, with the positive effect of green infrastructure investment being stronger below the estimated threshold and weakening above it. Spatial analysis further shows significant spatial dependence in both green infrastructure investment and industrial chain resilience, together with positive spillover effects on neighboring cities. These findings highlight the importance of improving green infrastructure investment efficiency, strengthening factor allocation, and promoting regional coordination in enhancing urban industrial chain resilience. The participating municipality plays a central role in coordinating strategic planning, resource allocation, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, and digital governance to promote sustainable tourism development. However, limited empirical evidence exists on how these governance functions collectively operate as an integrated institutional capability. This study proposed and empirically assessed Institutional Strategic Planning Capability (ISPC) as a higher-order governance construct and examined its relationships with Collaborative Governance, Smart Destination Readiness, and Perceived Sustainable Tourism Development Performance in the Provincial Municipality Daniel Alcides Carrión, Peru. The conceptual framework was developed by integrating Dynamic Capabilities Theory, Stakeholder Theory, and the municipal tourism governance literature. A quantitative, explanatory, cross-sectional research design was employed using questionnaire data collected from 120 municipal employees involved in planning, finance, tourism, infrastructure, environmental management, and administration. The proposed framework was evaluated using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with 5000 bootstrap resamples. The higher-order ISPC construct was empirically assessed through indicator reliability, internal consistency, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and higher-order construct assessment before evaluating the structural relationships, explanatory capability, and predictive performance of the model. The results demonstrate satisfactory initial measurement evidence across all constructs. ISPC exhibited significant positive relationships with Collaborative Governance and Smart Destination Readiness, while both governance mechanisms were positively associated with Perceived Sustainable Tourism Development Performance. The structural model demonstrated satisfactory explanatory power and predictive capability within the study context. The findings should be interpreted within the limitations of a cross-sectional, perception-based study conducted in a single municipality. The study contributes conceptually by proposing ISPC as an integrated higher-order governance construct and provides context-specific empirical evidence supporting evidence-based municipal tourism planning in the Peruvian context. Background: Biofilm formation on polyethylene surfaces contributes significantly to treatment failure in periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). In certain clinical situations, such as discontinued implant systems, replacement polyethylene liners may be unavailable, necessitating more complex revision procedures. This study evaluated the efficacy of a low-cost ultrasonic bath sonicator for biofilm removal and bacterial reduction on polyethylene surfaces, with and without povidone–iodine. Methods: An exploratory in vitro experimental study was performed using twenty ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) coupons (1 × 1 cm, 3 mm thickness) allocated into five groups (n = 4/group): negative control, positive control, povidone–iodine only (PVP-I), sonication only (SON), and sonication with povidone–iodine (SON+PVP-I). Biofilm formation using Staphylococcus epidermidis was established through an optimized protocol developed from sequential pilot experiments. Residual biofilm was quantified using optical density at 600 nm (OD600), while viable bacterial burden was determined by colony-forming unit counts per milliliter (CFU/mL). Results: SON demonstrated the lowest residual biofilm burden (OD600 = 0.194), whereas no culturable bacteria were detected above the assay detection limit (<10 CFU/mL) in the SON+PVP-I group. SON alone resulted in the greatest reduction in residual biofilm biomass, while the addition of PVP-I was associated with reduced recovery of culturable bacteria. Conclusions: A low-cost ultrasonic bath sonicator effectively reduced residual biofilm biomass on polyethylene surfaces, while no culturable bacteria were detected following combined sonication and povidone–iodine treatment. These findings suggest that sonication and chemical disinfection may provide complementary roles in polyethylene decontamination strategies. However, because of the exploratory study design and non-equivalent bacterial recovery procedures across treatment groups, the bacterial recovery findings should be interpreted cautiously. Further studies are required before clinical application. Full article

Background: The role of socioeconomic status (SES) in individual intertemporal decision-making has received widespread research attention. However, findings regarding its underlying psychological mechanisms remain inconclusive. This study investigates not only the association between SES and intertemporal decision-making but also the underlying cognitive neural mechanisms from both behavioral and electrophysiological perspectives. Methods: Individuals with high and low SES were recruited. In Experiment 1, a behavioral experiment used the Monetary Choice Questionnaire to measure delay discounting rates using the Kirby method and hierarchical Bayesian modeling, as well as choice consistency using the inverse temperature parameter of the softmax function, to examine differences in decision-making between the two groups. In Experiment 2, event-related potential techniques were employed to examine differences in dynamic neural activity during an intertemporal choice task between the high- and low-SES groups. Results: The behavioral results revealed that, in Experiment 1, the low-SES group exhibited a larger delay discounting rate than the high-SES group. The hierarchical Bayesian modeling further indicated that the low-SES group had lower choice consistency. Experiment 2 found that the low-SES group showed a significantly higher proportion of smaller-sooner (SS) choices than the high-SES group. Electroencephalographic results revealed that, compared with the high-SES group, the low-SES group exhibited larger P200 amplitudes but smaller N2 and P300 amplitudes. Within the high-SES group, the larger-later (LL) option elicited more negative N2 and larger P300 amplitudes than the SS option. Conversely, in the low-SES group, P300 amplitudes did not differ significantly between the SS and LL options during the later stage of intertemporal decision-making. Conclusions: The results showed that the low-SES group was more inclined toward immediate gains, made more random choices, displayed higher variability, relied more on intuitive heuristic strategies, and exhibited weaker cognitive control and reduced cognitive resource allocation during intertemporal decision-making. However, at the later stage, the absence of a significant difference between SS and LL options provided preliminary EEG evidence consistent with the possibility that individuals in the low-SES group did not completely disregard future outcomes. Digital transformation is reshaping the mining industry by improving resource efficiency and environmental performance. However, empirical evidence explaining how, why, and under which organizational and institutional conditions digitalisation enhances sustainable operational performance (SOP) in Sub-Saharan African mining remains limited, despite the region’s strategic role in global mineral supply. This study examines the effect of digitalisation on sustainable operational performance using longitudinal panel data from 48 mining companies operating in Sub-Saharan Africa between 2013 and 2022. Digitalisation is conceptualized as a multidimensional organizational capability and measured through a Digitalisation Index. The index was systematically derived from corporate annual environmental, social and governance reports using transparent coding procedures and Principal Component Analysis, enhancing measurement transparency and reproducibility. SOP is measured using a composite index encompassing operational efficiency, equipment utilization and maintenance effectiveness, resource utilization and environmental sustainability, and occupational health and safety. Fixed effects panel regression serves as the primary estimator, while the two-step System Generalized Method of Moments addresses endogeneity and dynamic persistence, with robustness analyses confirming result stability. The findings show that digitalisation significantly enhances sustainable operational performance by transforming digital resources into organizational capabilities that strengthen operational resilience, optimize resource allocation, and improve sustainability outcomes. By integrating the Resource-Based View, Dynamic Capabilities Theory, the TOE framework, and the Natural Resource-Based View into a unified explanatory framework, this study advances theory while providing practical guidance for digital capability development and Industry 4.0 investment and informing policies that strengthen digital infrastructure, institutional readiness, and regulatory support for sustainable mining in Sub-Saharan Africa. Background: Hospital-wide centralized bed allocation, known in China as the “one-bed-for-the-whole-hospital” model, aims to improve inpatient access by pooling beds across specialties. Existing studies have mainly examined operational outcomes, process risks, or staff competence. Less is known about how bed redistribution interacts with clinical responsibility, professional roles, functional support, and shared governance. Objectives: This study explored healthcare professionals’ perspectives on the barriers, facilitators, and strategies for sustaining the hospital-wide “One Bed” model. It also examined how bed integration and care integration aligned or diverged across the dimensions of the Rainbow Model of Integrated Care. Methods: A single-center descriptive qualitative study was conducted in a Grade A tertiary hospital in Shanghai, China, where the model had operated across 11 pilot wards for approximately 48 months. Between December 2024 and March 2025, 25 healthcare professionals, including 14 clinical nurses, eight head nurses, and three physicians, completed face-to-face semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using inductive qualitative content analysis. After themes and subthemes were developed from participants’ accounts, the Rainbow Model of Integrated Care was used as an interpretive framework to map the findings across clinical, professional, organizational, system, functional, and normative integration. Results: Five themes were generated. Participants perceived centralized bed allocation as shortening waiting time and improving bed use, but also as intensifying ward workload and making single efficiency indicators insufficient. Patients could move to available wards before medical response, responsibility, and physician visibility were fully aligned. Cross-specialty case mixes exceeded what nurses could manage through temporary learning alone. Information, logistics, space, equipment, and supplies did not always move with patients, leaving nurses to maintain workflow through manual and often invisible coordination. Sustained bed sharing also depended on clearer boundaries for patient selection, specialty fit, severity, nursing workload, leadership authority, resources, and incentives. Together, these themes showed that bed resources were integrated faster than care processes, professional capability, functional support, and shared governance. Conclusions: Hospital-wide centralized bed allocation should be understood as an uneven process of integration rather than only as a bed-management strategy. These findings primarily reflect the perceptions and experiences of nurses and nursing managers, supplemented by limited physician input. The distinctive finding of this study is that beds may be pooled, and patients may move rapidly, while medical response, nursing competence, functional support, workload recognition, and governance arrangements do not always move at the same pace. Safe and sustainable implementation therefore requires bounded flexibility: bed allocation should be guided not only by bed vacancy but also by clinical suitability, specialty fit, nursing workload, timely medical response, functional systems that move with patients, and shared accountability.
