Background: Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a severe psychiatric condition characterized by pervasive emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, and unstable interpersonal relationships. Affecting over 1% of the general population, BPD carries significant morbidity, frequent hospitalizations, and an increased risk of suicide. Although specialized psychotherapeutic approaches have shown efficacy, their impact is often constrained by availability, lengthy treatment durations, moderate effect sizes, and high dropout rates. Pharmacological treatments for BPD remain inadequate and are usually accompanied by adverse side effects. Objective: This narrative review seeks to explore the potential of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) as a safe, cost-effective, and accessible neuromodulation intervention aimed at alleviating core BPD symptoms—namely, emotional dysregulation and impulsivity—while also addressing common comorbidities and opportunities for integration with existing therapeutic modalities. Methods: We conducted a narrative literature synthesis in accordance with the SANRA (Scale for the Assessment of Narrative Review Articles) guidelines. A PubMed/MEDLINE search was performed using keywords related to transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and BPD, identifying five published randomized controlled trials on the topic. To provide a broader perspective, we also included studies from related fields examining mechanisms of action, safety and tolerability, cost-effectiveness, stimulation parameters, and clinical outcomes relevant to BPD. Results: Conventional tDCS protocols—typically involving 1–2 mA currents for 20–30 min—have demonstrated an excellent safety profile, resulting in only minimal and transient side effects without any risk of overdose or misuse, which is a key advantage for populations at high risk of suicidality. With moderately priced devices and the feasibility of home-based administration, tDCS provides a substantially more affordable alternative to both long-term pharmacotherapy and intensive psychotherapy. Neurobiologically, tDCS modulates the excitability of the dorsolateral and ventrolateral prefrontal cortex and enhances fronto-limbic connectivity, thereby strengthening top-down regulatory control over emotion and behavior. Pilot randomized controlled trials report moderate effect sizes for improvements in emotional regulation, inhibitory control, and rejection sensitivity, along with ancillary gains in executive functioning and reductions in depressive and substance-use symptoms when stimulating the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Conclusions: tDCS stimulation emerges as a safe and scalable adjunctive treatment for BPD, leveraging targeted neuromodulation to address core features and common comorbidities like depression. However, variability in current protocols and the scarcity of well-powered randomized trials underscore the pressing need for standardized methodologies, longer-term follow-up, and individualized stimulation strategies to establish enduring clinical benefits. The electricity sector plays a key role in achieving zero emissions targets. The required transition will lead to substantial changes in the supply, demand, and distribution of electricity, as well as in stakeholder roles. Future market designs may change substantially to accommodate these changes, address challenges, and take advantage of new opportunities. This paper reviews the characteristics of future carbon-neutral electricity systems and electricity market design options. To provide a guiding framework for the literature review, we transfer the complexity of electricity systems into a three-layer structure: Firstly, we analyze papers that rely on techno-economic modeling of the physical electricity system. As a case study, we analyze various studies focusing on a decarbonized European electricity system in 2050. Secondly, we review papers that investigate the economic behavior and effects of self-interest-seeking stakeholders such as producers, network operators, and consumers. Finally, we review papers focusing on policy and market design questions that guide policymakers in achieving a target physical asset combination while considering the behavior of stakeholders. We highlight common trends and disagreements in the literature, review the main drivers of future markets, and finally provide a mapping between those drivers, challenges, and opportunities. The review concludes that the most promising next step toward a fully comprehensive assessment approach is to combine existing approaches across topical and disciplinary boundaries. Full article

The terahertz (THz) region of the electromagnetic spectrum, spanning from 0.1 to 10 THz, offers unique opportunities for imaging, spectroscopy, and communication applications. However, the potential of THz technologies has been limited by the availability of efficient and versatile THz emitters. Spintronic THz emitters (STEs), leveraging the ultrafast dynamics of electron spins in magnetic materials, have emerged as a promising solution to this challenge. STEs offer significant advantages, including broad bandwidth, high power output, and room-temperature operation, positioning them at the forefront of THz technology development. Despite these advances, understanding the operational principles and improving the performance of STEs remain areas of active research. This review focuses on the theoretical models that describe the behavior of STEs, aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of the underlying physics and suggest directions for future enhancements. Through a detailed examination of these models, the review seeks to clarify the basics of the physics driving STE performance and highlight innovative strategies for their optimization and application expansion. Recently, digitization has fundamentally changed and disrupted the dynamics of the economy, society, and markets. This study integrates existing strategic entrepreneurship and business model concepts and constructs with a digital platform-related perspective by focusing on the cognitive aspects of strategic entrepreneurship decision-making and clarifying the conceptual foundation of entrepreneurial agility and its dimensions. It investigates how entrepreneurial agility can combine or integrate opportunity- and advantage-seeking behaviors for product and business model innovation to pursue digital entrepreneurship, to foster sustainable processes and practices, and to create value in response to digital disruption. It finds that entrepreneurial agility directly impacts building digital platform capabilities for product and business model innovation and that building digital platform capabilities indirectly influence creating value through business model innovation adoption. This study discusses the theoretical and managerial implications for digital entrepreneurship research in detail by identifying and testing the relationships among these constructs. Full article
